Swans - The Great Annihilator

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿

One thing I want to make very clear from the beginning is that I’m talking exclusively about the 2017 remaster of 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘈𝘯𝘯𝘪𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘰𝘳. I’ve heard the Original, but my experience with the old one is so bare that it might as well not exist in the first place.
With that out of the way, let’s start by stating the obvious. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 ... read more

Quadeca - i.ii.iii

Quadeca finishes the Vanisher saga with some beautiful bonus material. These new tracks are all ambient by nature, accompanied by piano, a stripped-back acoustic guitar, and a hauntingly stunning accordion. With the constant sound of waves crashing onto the shore, this truly feels like it neatly ties the ending of "CASPER" together: the calm after the storm. What was once a grand adventure out into the open sea, chasing the horizon, is now nothing more than a forgotten ghost below the ... read more

Swans - Public Castration Is a Good Idea

𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘐𝘴 𝘢 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘢 is the first officially recorded Swans live album, and my first front-to-back experience with a Swans live record as well. Here, you will find live renditions of songs from their 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥/𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘺 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 era, which is not my favorite Swans era, but I prefer those two records over Filth and Cop, so I was excited to give this one a listen and was ... read more

Swans - Oxygen

Who wanted this, for whom is this, exactly? My friend is always skipping through songs I send him, and I think the Oxygen Edit is the closest song where I can experience that same feeling. Let's just make a parody of our own song, why not? The Live version is cool, I'm not sure if that's the same live version that's on Not Here/Not Now, though? The Early version is a complete nothingburger, and I don't care for the Acoustic Version, sadly. Absolute travesty and a total ... read more

Boards of Canada - Twoism

Boards of Canada's debut EP 𝘛𝘸𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘮, is a unique and interesting take on Downtempo Electronic. I loved what they brought to the table here, especially the more creepy and sinister songs on this, like "Sixtyniner" and "Qirectine". If you've already listened to 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘏𝘢𝘴 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 before, then you'd be surprised quite a bit by some endings of the songs ... read more

RAYE - THIS MUSIC MAY CONTAIN HOPE.

So, 𝘛𝘏𝘐𝘚 𝘔𝘜𝘚𝘐𝘊 𝘔𝘈𝘠 𝘊𝘖𝘕𝘛𝘈𝘐𝘕 𝘏𝘖𝘗𝘌. was my first experience with RAYE. I have heard “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND” before and was indifferent about it. All the many different subgenres tagged on here made me quite intrigued about how this album would sound, and oh man, where do I start? The Intro is not working. Not even a tiny bit. Why put this monotone narration spoken word passage here? We don’t need this. The album ... read more
