Crazy Track Titles, damn. Some of these are blatanly wrong tho. There is NO WAY Spongebob would hate the Gays, that goes against his whole character!
Happy Pride Month to all my Kings, Queens, and everyone in between! <3
Quadeca finishes the Vanisher saga with some beautiful bonus material. These new tracks are all ambient by nature, accompanied by piano, a stripped-back acoustic guitar, and a hauntingly stunning accordion. With the constant sound of waves crashing onto the shore, this truly feels like it neatly ties the ending of "CASPER" together: the calm after the storm. What was once a grand adventure out into the open sea, chasing the horizon, is now nothing more than a forgotten ghost below the ... read more
𝘗𝘶𝘣𝘭𝘪𝘤 𝘊𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘐𝘴 𝘢 𝘎𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘐𝘥𝘦𝘢 is the first officially recorded Swans live album, and my first front-to-back experience with a Swans live record as well. Here, you will find live renditions of songs from their 𝘎𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘥/𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘺 𝘔𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 era, which is not my favorite Swans era, but I prefer those two records over Filth and Cop, so I was excited to give this one a listen and was ... read more
Who wanted this, for whom is this, exactly? My friend is always skipping through songs I send him, and I think the Oxygen Edit is the closest song where I can experience that same feeling. Let's just make a parody of our own song, why not? The Live version is cool, I'm not sure if that's the same live version that's on Not Here/Not Now, though? The Early version is a complete nothingburger, and I don't care for the Acoustic Version, sadly. Absolute travesty and a total ... read more
Boards of Canada's debut EP 𝘛𝘸𝘰𝘪𝘴𝘮, is a unique and interesting take on Downtempo Electronic. I loved what they brought to the table here, especially the more creepy and sinister songs on this, like "Sixtyniner" and "Qirectine". If you've already listened to 𝘔𝘶𝘴𝘪𝘤 𝘏𝘢𝘴 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘙𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘊𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 before, then you'd be surprised quite a bit by some endings of the songs ... read more
So, 𝘛𝘏𝘐𝘚 𝘔𝘜𝘚𝘐𝘊 𝘔𝘈𝘠 𝘊𝘖𝘕𝘛𝘈𝘐𝘕 𝘏𝘖𝘗𝘌. was my first experience with RAYE. I have heard “WHERE IS MY HUSBAND” before and was indifferent about it. All the many different subgenres tagged on here made me quite intrigued about how this album would sound, and oh man, where do I start? The Intro is not working. Not even a tiny bit. Why put this monotone narration spoken word passage here? We don’t need this. The album ... read more
Peggy's new album is quite something. I loved pretty much all of his work up to this, so listening to this one was a bit of a shocker. I wasn't super keen on the singles, so I was already worried this would not be on the same level as his previous stuff. There has already been said a lot about this album in other reviews, and there is nothing I can adequately contribute at this point, but man, just what the hell happened here? I enjoyed some songs on this, but we gotta leave the ... read more
Lmao. When people say that Loveless is headache-inducing to me, I imagine that this is what they've listened to instead of the original.
Alright, so this is better than his other 2 albums. Which does not mean this is not also a slog to go through. It's actually quite the same, because I was enjoying some beats on here and then, unfortunately, Drake had to open his mouth spitting the most nonsense bars known to man. I don't care that you want to boink your therapist, I don't care what Con you're attending, I don't care, man. At the end of the day, this is just another Drake snoozefest with little to no ... read more
I didn't mind this nearly as much as Maid of Honour. Started pretty decent and then went downhill. I can't be really mad about it though, because I think it's just an album where you're supposed to not think hard about the art you consume and just ride the wave. I confess that I was actually doing some work on the side, so I didn't give this one my full attention, which might explain why I think this one is better than Maid of Honour. Rusty Intro is so god damn unreal. ... read more
Imagine having the balls to put your own mother on the cover of this album. He does not give a single fuck, which is respectable, I give him that, so that's one thing this album has going for it. Unfortunately for him, the songs on here are complete hot garbage. Barely functioning at all, same old empty beat over every single song with Drake talking over it. Guest features are trying to bring some spice into it, but even they can't heat up this sorry state of a nothingburger. ... read more
‘Love of Life’ is in more than one sense a direct sequel to Swans’s previous record. It carries over numerous ideas and sounds that were present on their last record, ‘White Light from the Mouth of Infinity’, and it also serves as a sister album on top of that. The songwriting approach and sounds are similar, as is the cover. I absolutely adore ‘White Light from the Mouth of Infinity’, so if these two albums are so similar to each other, then surely ... read more
I'm completely blown away by this EP. Right from the get-go, on the very first seconds of 'Figure 8', you can already tell that this isn't quite the FKA twigs that we've come to know. This EP is dark and borderline anxious. LP1 and her two EP's that came before were already futuristic as is, but this one sets the bar even higher. If her previous work is a solemn reflection on the mind, then 'M3LL155X' is a walk on a rainy night in Night City with neon ... read more
An improvement over her last EP. This time around, she's experimenting a lot more with her vocals, and the space these songs are given is utilized more effectively. I was really excited to hear some hints of industrial in 'Papi Pacify', given that she would lean more into that kind of sound in the future. It's really cool to see where she started and how different her sound ended up being on her later records.
Absolute stellar debut LP drop from FKA twigs with immaculate production. All over the LP, you're gonna find super glitchy and wonky beats that remind me a lot of Flying Lotus. Most of these songs suck you in and drown you in a futuristic landscape, only letting go when the song is done. Her voice is also super intriguing, and she's playing a lot with high-pitched/down-pitched vocals on the entire record. Lyrics seem mostly about longing, unrequited love, and not being enough, which ... read more
There it is, the infamous 'The Burning World'. A record that's hated by so many, and even Gira himself, and I can see where they are coming from. Swans completely ditch their Noise roots at this point. It's a purely folk album, with just some slight rock-adjacent flavours here and there. I really liked the folk elements they incorporated on their previous records, especially on 'Children of God', although here most of these tracks are bare-bones in comparison. Most ... read more
'Children of God', the fifth studio album of swans is a massive improvement on all fronts over their previous works. The band is practically unrecognizable on this record, given that some aspects of their old self are still there. The noise has been dialed down a notch, the shrill and gritty sounds replaced with soothing, ethereal, and almost dreamy soundscapes. There is also quite a bit of emotional range found on this record. Up until now, we only had raw, unfilitered rage for the ... read more
'Holy Money' is a solid farewell to the early Noisye Rock Swans era. It's good to finally hear Jarboes voice on a Swans record. Overall the album is a bit more stripped back then 'Greed'. Same can be said about the two rerecordings found on this album, Fool and Money is Flesh. With more interesting sounds and experimentation with different vocals and background vocals, Swans proves that they are always willing to push themselves further with each new album.
'Greed' is a solid improvement over their last two records with better vocals and stronger songwriting. The inclusion of Gothic Rock and Darkwave into the mix makes their whole sound much more smooth and easiert to digest. I do wish however that on some songs here the Gira's vocals wasn't as muddied. On top of that some songs could have gone a bit harder, it seems that they drastically turned down the grating noise but in return overshooted a bit.
