Quite similar to the previous LP, the tracks kind of run together quite a bit, but still a decent release. The drums are all right, without Horgh in Immortal this is basically just a Demonaz solo project, and you can tell. The productions all right. Overall a decent album, but it is basically just Northern Chaos Gods without Horgh.
Decent album, The drums are quite good, and the guitars are ok, the vocals are surprisingly good. I certainly miss Abbath's vocals on this record, but Demonaz is still quite a solid black metal vocalist. Horgh's drumming is quite good on this LP, and Demonaz's guitar work is all right, but it's nice that he was able to get his tendonitis cured. Overall a decent album, but the production drags it down, and the songs are kind of repetitive.
Worse than the previous, but that's not saying much since the previous was amazing. Still a good record though, but it can get repetitive at times. Also this is the last album with Abbath in Immortal, so I'm kind of worried about the next two albums, especially War Against All, because of Horghs departure as well. Overall a pretty good album, but not their best by a long shot.
Sons of Northern Darkness is the record that got me into Immortal in the first place, So this review might be a little biased due to my slight nostalgia of this record. Every track on this record is amazing, from the first riff to the last it keeps your blood pumping. The production is good, while it stills maintain the distinct black metal sound of Immortal. Overall a extremely solid LP that is my favorite from Immortal, and the whole reason why I am doing a discography for Immortal.
A much better release than the previous album, I was thoroughly disappointed with "At The Heart of Winter", especially after hearing about people raving about it. This record still has it's rough edges but overall it's just a way more solid release than the previous, and is far more enjoyable to listen to. Overall a pretty good album in it's own right, but it isn't the best they have released.
PS: I am not saying that At The Heart of Winter is a bad LP, I'm ... read more
Better than the previous release, but still not that great considering their earlier releases. I was expecting this to be as good or better than Pure Holocaust, due to people raving about it, but I was apparently mistaken. The guitars full blown shit the bed at the beginning of "Tragedies Blows At Horizon". Overall better than their previous but still kind of a disappointing release coming from Immortal.
Wow what a disappointing album, and what makes it even worse is that this is the last LP with Demonaz on guitar until "Northern Chaos Gods" in 2018. All of the songs sounded pretty similar, and nothing really stood out. Pretty amateurish album to be honest. Overall a pretty disappointing release.
Slightly lower quality than the previous LP, Pure Holocaust, but still a solid release. Not many of the tracks on this record are particularly note worthy, but the first and last tracks "Battles In The North" and "Blashyrkh - Mighty Ravendark" are both great tracks. Overall a solid release, but a step down from the previous.
Pretty massive step up from the previous record, Immortal has come into it's own sound with this LP. My favorite track has to be "The Sun No Longer Rises", but all of the songs are of a pretty similar quality. Overall a great LP, and well worth the listen.
This record serves well as a debut, pretty average black metal if i am to be honest; The essence of Immortal's distinctive sound is here, but it is far from coming in full bloom. My favorite track from this LP has to be "Unholy Forces Of Evil". Overall a decent album, none of the tracks really struck out to me, and I felt them slipping out of my mind soon after completion of them.
Easily the bands best record to date. Cattle decapitation just keeps getting better and better, I enjoyed every second of this record. My favorite track has to be "Scourge of the Offspring". Overall just such a great record.
A pretty big evolution in Cattle Decapitations sound, pretty experimental to. My favorite track is either "Finish Them" or "Bring back the plague." Both songs are amazing. Much more of a melodic and slower album than the previous. Overall a great release and my favorite from them so far.
Similar to the last one, except the production is of a slightly higher quality to it. My favorite track is probably "Plagueborne" but all the songs on this LP are of consistent quality.
Great record, the vocals are really improving with this LP and the instrumentals are stille steadily getting better. My favorite track from this LP has to be "Dead Set On Suicide." Or "Forced Gender Reassignment". Overall a great release, with the only real negative thing I have to say about it being the production, which isn't great but isn't too poor to be honest.
Good stuff here, Cattle Decapitation is really coming into it's own sound. Cattle Decapitation keeps getting better with every release. My favorite track has to be "A Body Farm", "The Gardeners Of Eden" is also really good and is my second favorite track from this LP. Overall a good album, and a similar quality to the last, although this is slightly better in my opinion.
A pretty big step up in my opinion from their previous release. Cattle Decapitation is really starting to improve with this release, and is starting to have their modern sound at this point. Overall a good release, and worth the listen.
Honestly this was a pretty forgettable album, i mean the music it's self was alright but it didn't really do anything for me. I was zoning out while listening to this record, it just didn't really do much. Overall mid, doesn't do anything special; The previous two records are better.
Cattle Decapitation's first Death Metal record. Pretty damn good honestly, the record is very consistent quality throughout. Overall a good album.
Sounds exactly the same as the previous release, except the production is better. Overall a decent album, but far from Cattle Decapitations best.
Goregrind is by no means my favorite genre, but this ones alright. The vocals kind of drag it down unfortunately, they sound like someone recorded a frog croaking, but i have been desensitized to those kind of vocals fortunately. Overall pretty decent, but they have released far better stuff than this.
