Against all odds, Iceman is actually pretty okay. It's not a very interesting record sound-wise, but Drake tries hard enough with his flows, delivery and some decent production chops. The album definitely didn't blow me away and it most certainly doesn't live up to it's name. Still, we should be grateful; this is late stage drake, we could be doing a lot worse. The funniest part about the album is how incredibly obvious it is that Drake wrote this himself. If you check his ... read more
Voodoo is one of those albums I genuinely can’t believe it took me this long to listen to. Just like The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, it feels like an album that was made specifically for me. R&B is one of my favorite genres when it’s done right, and Voodoo is literally the blueprint for so many modern R&B styles.
D’Angelo might have the sexiest voice of all time. Sex is one of the most talked about topics in music, but nobody captures that feeling the way ... read more
I’m not even going to waste too many words on this. This is genuinely one of Drake’s worst albums, it’s slightly better than Honestly Nevermind, but that’s not saying much. While the production is decent at times, Drake himself is awful on almost every track. It’s like he completely forgot how to sing. The hooks have never been worse, everything he talks about is cringe, and his accent on the reggaeton tracks is so forced and annoying. He honestly only sounds like ... read more
Nothing Was the Same is the album that reminds people Drake wasn’t always the lazy, formulaic artist people reduce him to today. A lot of the criticism he gets now is fair, which is exactly why this version of Drake stands out so much in hindsight because back then he sounded hungry and focused, like someone trying to demonstrate he belonged with the best rappers alive. He had something to prove on this one, and you can hear it all over the album. Kendrick was right when he said, “I ... read more
People who hate on this album really just don’t understand it. This is a truly refreshing pop album with a wide mix of genres from jazz to opera and R&B and even spoken word. It honestly feels like a modern form of classical music. RAYE feels like a modern Amy Winehouse, but she doesn’t let that style define her. She is so personal on this record and also weaves a theme throughout the album with the different seasons and the emotions that come with them. I don’t know what ... read more
Don Toliver just dropped another pretty mediocre album. I don’t get how it keeps happening, but every time I hear him on a feature, I’m like, damn this guy has so much potential. Then I listen to his albums and I’m left thinking… what went wrong? He genuinely has a great voice and can deliver a strong verse when he actually tries and that’s the key word: when. On this album, it really feels like he’s not trying or putting in real effort. On top of that, the ... read more
Kanye is back with a mediocre attempt to win back his fans. It's crazy that this has become the new standard for Ye's music. While Bully is clearly better than Vultures 1 and 2, that’s not saying much. There isn't much originality on this album. He's trying to recreate the different eras of his career, leading to fatherless Kanye glazers shouting 'we are so back' when we’re really not. It's a smart move on Ye's part, but at the same time, it ... read more
Probably the catchiest pop album of this decade. It makes sense that almost every song was a single, cause pretty much everything hits. The only real problem is Dua’s songwriting, which can be really cringe at most points. But honestly, I don’t care as long as it’s catchy and fun enough to keep my attention. The last two songs leave a real bad taste in my mouth. Good in Bed has the worst refrain of the record and Boys will be Boys is one of the cringiest, most ... read more
By far Travis’s weakest album, but it’s still decent. I don’t get why people call this album bad when it still has slappers like pick up the phone or way back. Comparing this to the rest of his catalogue seems unfair. The biggest problem with this album is that it doesn’t feel as distinctive as his other albums. There’s not a lot going on sonically. I always admire when travis really creates a world for his albums and that is just not the case here. Instead, it ... read more
After a five-year hiatus, Baby Keem returns with an intimate and interesting album. While it doesn’t reach the highs of The Melodic Blue, Casino feels more consistent, focused, and cohesive as a full project. Instead of relying on braggadocious hype tracks, Keem leans more into personal and introspective songs, which is where he really flexes his lyrical ability. There are still a few awkward moments here and there, like the wannabe pop hit Dramatic Girl, and Kendrick’s features ... read more
The literal definiton of background music. Good on the ears, but man this feels so uninspired.
After letting this album marinate for a while, I can confidently say that J. Cole goes out on a high note. Is it a perfect album? Definitely not. But to this day, it’s his most consistent. I haven’t heard him this focused in a very long time. There are some all-time great storytelling tracks on here, like “I Love Her Again” and “Safety.” It also feels a lot more personal than most of his other albums.
There are some flaws, though. The concept is ambitious, ... read more
Realizing that J. Cole is actually a great artist was not on my 2026 bingo card. I have underestimated this guy for way too long. While I still think this album isn't all that due to the production feeling bland and uninspired in certain spots, the actual rapping performances are really great. When he locks in, Cole proves that he can be a great storyteller like on 'let go my hand'. After sleeping on Cole for too long, I am now genuinely excited to check out his whole discography.
It’s good, but the production is a bit all over the place, and that is to the detriment of the album. You’ll go from an experimental rap track to some weird psychedelic stuff, and then suddenly you're listening to a jazz duet. I respect Rocky for trying some new stuff, but some of it just doesn't work. It feels like he’s just throwing stuff at the wall to see what sticks. Rocky himself has some really decent raps here and there, but nothing outstanding. There are ... read more
Chappel is like the Quentin Tarantino of pop music. You don’t want to like her music, but it’s so undeniable. Her talent is impossible to ignore. Every song is such an earworm and she already has more personality than the majority of today’s pop artists. She deserves all the praise she gets and more. Easily one of the most exciting pop artists working today.
While this isn't quite as strong as his debut mixtape, this album still hits. It's obvious Rocky's trying to go for a more commercial direction here. On the one hand, I think this is a smart choice, but I still find myself preferring his original style. The cloud rap tracks on this album are among some of his best, LVL is a classic. I really want to love Rocky as an artist, but i have yet to truly fall in love with one of his albums. This is still great, but in my opinion, he has ... read more
This album needs no introduction. The more I listen to it, the more I think: what the fuck happened to rap music? Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of great rappers right now, but it’s become so commercial. This really takes me back to the roots of hip hop.
2Pac was a real thug — no fake shit. Everything he says on tracks, I immediately believe he really means that shit. It’s just so much more authentic than what we have now, and there’s way more grit.

I feel so conflicted about this album. On the one hand, Virgin delivers a powerful message and shows Lorde’s strength as a songwriter. But on the other hand, I feel so disconnected. I don’t relate to anything being told on the album. And that wouldn’t matter if the album were sonically interesting. But I think the production gets boring really quickly; after the first three songs, you’ve basically heard everything. Definitely not a bad album, it’s just not as ... read more
