This is Greed if it was good. It's more interesting and it has more variety in its sound.

I don't see how A Hanging is the highest rated track. It's one of the weakest for me. You Need Me is nice, but it's too short to really do anything. It's a very primitive Jarboe track; all of her songs on Children of God, the following album, are much better. Fool (# 2) is Fool but with drums. Is it better? I'm not sure, but I'd say slightly so, as it's less boring. ... read more

The title track is a banger. Sadly, Sealed in Skin is not that good.

Best: Time Is Money (Bastard)

Is this what no-wave era Swans sounds like to people who don't like Swans? This is underhated. It's much, much worse than Cop. It's unbelievably boring. I mean, it's good, sure, but I feel like it doesn't have the highs that Cop has. It's good that it's shorter, though. Raping a Slave is probably the best song of the four. Young God is also the most brutal song I've ever listened to. It almost sounds like a torture tape.

Best: Raping a Slave

Least favorite: Young God (7/10)

I'm not sure how many Swans albums I've listened to before this; I lost count. I get the critique that it's too long; I also think it's a bit of a problem, considering the songs are quite repetitive (not as much as their following record, Greed, at least). Some people think the songs on Filth are almost indistinguishable. I heavily disagree with that take. However, I think it applies here. I won't listen to most of the songs here outside of the gym; they make good gym ... read more
