This is Greed if it was good. It's more interesting and it has more variety in its sound.
I don't see how A Hanging is the highest rated track. It's one of the weakest for me. You Need Me is nice, but it's too short to really do anything. It's a very primitive Jarboe track; all of her songs on Children of God, the following album, are much better. Fool (# 2) is Fool but with drums. Is it better? Is this what no-wave era Swans sounds like to people who don't like Swans? This is underhated. It's much, much worse than Cop. It's unbelievably boring. Far too minimalist, nothing actually happens in the songs; it's the same thing throughout. The beats and instrumentals are not nearly interesting enough for them to go on for four, five, or even six minutes. I mean, it's good, sure, but I feel like it doesn't have the highs that Cop has. It's good that it's shorter, though. Raping a Slave is probably the best song of the four. Young God is also the most brutal song I've ever listened to. It almost sounds like a torture tape.

I'm not sure how many Swans albums I've listened to before this; I lost count. I get the critique that it's too long; I also think it's a bit of a problem, considering the songs are quite repetitive (not as much as their following record, Greed, at least).
