ScHoolboy Q - CrasH Talk
65

Not enough Cudi on Dangerous. Needed more hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmmm-ing.

Decent project most of the way through, but nothing that really stood out. Imo there’s no telling how this thing is gonna age, but I just can’t see it reaching the level of Oxymoron, Habits and Contradictions, or Blank Face. Easily his worst album as of this writing.

Kanye West - 808s & Heartbreak
80

RoboCop gets too much hate and is one of the 5 best songs on here.

Far from Kanye’s best album, but easily his most influential as it completely shifted the atmosphere of pop music in a way that has yet to fade away. Dude said fuck it and dropped a pop album that’s better than most pop artist’s best.

Jaden - The Sunset Tapes: A Cool Tape Story
40

I don’t think his failures crush my successes anymore

Jaden - SYRE
70

Been a while since this dropped but my opinion has stayed pretty much the same. B L U E by itself is like an 80. The rest is about a 60. Production is really, really solid all the way through, but this project is just too long and all over the place to hold my interest. Jaden couldn’t have made his influences more obvious if he had tried, but unlike on “The Sunset Tapes”, I feel as though that almost worked in his favour here. 70.

Mac Miller - Swimming

Raised from an 82

Kendrick Lamar - Section.80

Earl Sweatshirt - solace

KIDS SEE GHOSTS - KIDS SEE GHOSTS
100

Yeah, this is a classic.

Raised from a 90 to a 100.

Lil Wayne - Tha Carter V
73

Lowered from an 86

Eminem - Kamikaze
50

Lowered from a 65 to a 52.

Lowered from a 52 to a 50.

This album serves as a perfect testament to Em’s career.

It aged terribly.

Mac Miller - Faces
100

Raised from a 94. Fuck it. Rest in peace Mac.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
100

Originally had it at a 97, but I felt that it deserved those 3 extra rating points.

Pusha T - DAYTONA
90

While Pusha T is no doubt at the top of his game right now, it’s Kanye’s production that really took this project to the next level. It’s been awhile since Kanye took on such a large responsibility for the production of an album, but he’s not rusty by any stretch of the word. Kanye proved that he’s still got it- though I don’t think that was ever truly in doubt.

Edit: raised from an 86 to a 90

Royce da 5'9'' - Book of Ryan
80

If what he had already accomplished wasn’t enough for you, this album should solidify Royce’s standing as one of the best lyricists of his generation.

Whether you began listening to Hip-Hop with Nas in the 90s or Lil Pump in 2017, there is something in this album for every rap fan. Royce did a fantastic job at blending sounds from the old school with sounds from the new school, in a way that J. Cole wasn’t quite able to achieve with KOD.

Kanye West - Lift Yourself
68

There is no denying that this is one of the best beats of the year. It’s a fucking crime that he wasted it on a troll.

Post Malone - beerbongs & bentleys
50

With this album, Post more or less delivered what was expected of him. Almost every single song on here is catchy, and you just know it’s gonna be dominating the radio waves for the foreseeable future. I’m sure I would’ve enjoyed this record more had he trimmed a few tracks, but right now it’s just way too long to be enjoyable. The content isn’t all that varied, so at times it feels as though he’s just delivering a rendition of the same song with each new ... read more
