Faces finds Mac Miller embracing a typical 2010s rapper trope: the exploratory between-album mixtape. Over an hour and a half, he advances on his last LP's heady sprawl with a palette stretching from rainy day introspection to playful wordplay exercises.

Mac Miller continues on his path following money, fame, drugs and alcohol, while writing some clever, craftily worded lyrics along the way.

hip hop think tank – episode 7 – Faces' review

Far from the concept of problematic and investigation that this series proposes, I want to speak to you with my heart, with a simple review. What Mac Miller gives us with this mixtape is not just one of the best rap projects of all time, not just his second best project, not just the best album/mixtape of 2014, but the best mixtape of all time.

The greatest Mixtape ever in my books. Crazy that Mac made a 90 minute project that is so entertaining and filled with one amazing song after the other. Miss him so much. This is really one of my personal favorite music experiences of all time.
