An absolutely fantastic album. One of my favourites of all time, period.
Strawberry Switchblade's Rose McDowall and Jill Bryson polka and goth aesthetics blend perfectly with 1980's synthpop, with songs that are absolute bops to the more atmospheric, at times horror-like direction some songs on the album contain. I know AOTY hates this kind of music, but I am a huge sucker for Arctic Monkeys-like music. Reminds me a lot of their early 2010s era albums especially.
It's got plenty of hooks, very catchy melodies, good singing, and the songs are distinct enough if you're familiar with the genre. I guess this is my hot take of 2025 albums, really.

It's honestly quite derivative. A more polished version of a True Romance track. And yet... I can't stop listening to it.
