The post-mortem, generic 2010 production on here sounds so out of place and nothing like MJ. It truly ruins every single song on here for me, especially after hearing the original versions in the deluxe. There’s not a single modernised version of the songs that I prefer over the originals.
My rating is just regarding the original songs whilst my rating for the modernised songs are on the non-deluxe album. The originals are so much better and actually feel like Michael Jackson. The production on the first released songs doesn’t fit at all and sounds so off for MJ. Only thing they have better than the Originals are probably the mixing of his vocals.
I’ve alway avoided listening to swans due to the absurd duration of their albums but I thought If finally try to listen to one. This album is gorgeously hypnotic and has a nice charm to it. It is long and repetitive yet in all the right areas. The soundscapes on this album are amazing.
