i didnt hate this as much as i expected. as much as i do agree with the criticisms that drake is more than slightly corny on some of these tracks still not getting over the beef, this is significant improvement over the last few albums musically. there is at least some substance in what hes saying now and i didnt hate how he sectioned the album with the "make them" tracks. it still definitely falls short of the comeback album that was needed to save drakes reputation and im not a fan ... read more
for the amount of big name features and its length in general, i feel like this album doesnt have enough content to justify being 90 minutes. most of the lyrics are just drake not being able to get over his ex and as a result it feels really bloated and rapidly loses energy after track 5. despite this theres probably a limit to how bad an album with drake and the weeknd can be...? and the highs are high enough to make this worth your time

i dont think ive been so impressed by a piece of music in a long long time. this album really exemplifies everything prog rock should be - futuristic sound, uncommon time signatures, the super unique recordings (the birds chirping in the intro and especially the organ part in the titular track, that hit really hard) as well as the absolutely cathartic crescendos. most of all what i loved about this album is its fun vibe which was really memorable because a lot of the prog rock ive heard takes ... read more
thanks @khaidar for the recommendation
this is a really neat producer album that reminds me of j dilla, normally these arent really my thing but this ep is super short and sweet, i like the chill and reflective vibe and the jazz elements, and the sampling is super super polished. cant wait for the next one

glad i hopped on the hype train before the debut lp
this is a nice little ep, it starts off strong, the songs have a lot of energy and are super dynamic, the vocals have a lot more muscle than a lot of the indie stuff ive heard this year, and i like how much they lean into the rock instrumentation, this shit slaps. great way to show off the bands talent before the debut album

this was a super fun listen. as is expected with bowie its completely different from the other 3 albums of his ive listened to, with a way softer, easier sound. all of these songs are comparatively short making the album flow along very nicely, and it has some insane highs like "life on mars" and "changes" being classics, while also delivering on some of the deep cuts such as "kooks" which is just such a fun pop song that im surprised isnt rated higher

corny one liner aside, this was one of the releases i was most looking forward to because good kid had really carved out a reputation as a super accessible indie rock band with this playful cartoonish vibe (not to mention i love love love the art). i would say that their big problem is that they seem to make the same song over and over, and although there's some experimentation on this LP, i dont think this issue is really fixed and instead most of the ... read more
overall a pretty easy listen, the central theme of that jazzy, nervy bassline really shines through on every song and its probably distracted's best quality. there's a lot of range in the first few songs ("no more lies" to "she knows too much" being a great switchup) but it kind of fades in the latter half of the album. i kind of think this would be better if thundercat shaved off the last 10ish minutes but at 46 minutes this is already a pretty concise album. also ... read more
this album starts off pretty strong but slowly devolves into shit you would hear in a tiktok basketball edit. the lyricism is just mind-numbingly bad, for example "life give you lemons / make a lemonade stand" is an actual bar. despite this i appreciate how it doesnt pretend to be anything its not and manages to have a few pretty fun moments.

i wanted to check this album out because "one" is one of my favorite songs of all time, unfortunately none of the songs really reach the heights of "one" except maybe "mysterious ways". i really wish u2 had leant more into an acoustic, softer sound with "one" or like they did on the joshua tree because that's what they're good at, because so many of the other songs just end up being pretty generic since u2 definitely isnt a hard rock band. with ... read more

this is genuinely such a fun project, at first i felt thrown off by the genuinely weird "scream" but the latter half of this record really grew on me. the hooks are super catchy and everything from "flesh without blood" to "butterfly" just flew by in what felt like 10 minutes. there's a sense of kitsch here where the songs are definitely quirky but it feels whimsical instead of pretentious (the chorus in "kill v ... read more
this album kind of reminds me of la la land (which i really like), not only because the four acts are the four seasons representing raye's love life but also because of the unapologetic theater kid energy. while it's not extremely polished and can be over the top sometimes, i really liked the artistic vision and it's great that an up-and-coming mainstream artist has the guts to try something like this on their breakout album. not to mention that the idea is genuinely well ... read more
sometimes the best thing someone can do for their legacy is retire (definitely not thinking about lebron when i say this)
this isn't a horrible album by any means, and the lows aren't as low as the likes of "BOMB" but for what was hyped to be a comeback album this is just kinda meh. all of these tracks definitely sound like unfinished demos and follow the structure of verse, chorus, verse, cringe skit. and while the rapping isnt bad its clear kanye isnt really inspired ... read more

The second volume of Minecraft’s universally acclaimed soundtrack is a lot of things, but to me, it’s a lesson in how to capture a sense of scale. Without even listening to the album, you can see that it has big shoes to fill – Minecraft is the biggest video game ever with sprawling worlds larger than Earth, the soundtrack’s runtime is a gargantuan 2 hours and 20 minutes, and it’s coming off of Volume Alpha which contains ... read more
