Excellent album with JID showing up with some of the best flows and lyrics I have ever come across.
Grew on me over the years. Very loud and in-your-face like most of death grips and probably contains some of their best work with just banger after banger. In my opinion, as big of a must-listen as the money store.
Like switching through tv channels that are just showing horror movies. Sometimes low-key and unsettling, other times loud and distressing. Incredibly good.
Really great song, instrumental really floods all your senses in a unique way but the vocals and such aren't nearly as impressive. Not too sure why it is rated this high but I definitely still enjoy it a lot.
Amazing performances from both that go together and play off each other very well, completed with some masterful production by El P. Bonus track is a fair step-down in quality unfortunately but otherwise no real lowlights to speak of.
The features also compliment the tracks they feature on very well, most notably Zack de la Rocha and BOOTS, who provide an amazing verse and chorus respectively. Probably also some of the most replayability off any hip-hop album I have come across.
After being impressed after hearing him on a feature and his single from a bit ago "black enuff", I was looking forward to this project and it didn't disappoint. He has a very distinct and quite harsh delivery that is an interesting contrast to the very smooth instrumentals and singing, which however can be a bit hit or miss for me, most notably on "stay the night".
Other than that it is pretty impressive attempt at jazz rap with some great lyrical highlights such as ... read more
Song takes a potentially annoying sounding hook and somehow makes it work soooo well.
Pretty weak in comparison to the rest of RTJ2, but still decent
Pretty good actually, which is expected from jid, but not so much a song involving a cereal mascot. Genuinely not sure why it exists though.
Not as bad as I was expecting but still pretty lackluster. The singing and instrumentals are actually pretty decent but the songs are just too basic and short to have much to even say about or get from, with the exception of the final one somewhat. The lyrics aren't necessarily my cup of tea and usually are just pretty sexual overall and not much else, though the third track did end up being extremely gross and not one I would ever want to listen to again.
There is potential but it really ... read more
Super unique hip hop album, even for injury reserve, with some incredibly abstract production that works. An amazing tribute to Groggs, rest in peace.
