#20 on Loudwire's 50 Best Metal Albums of All Time
#48 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time

had it not been for ronnie james dio's legacy, this album would have faded into obscurity like the millions of other 70s heavy metal albums like it. nothing special. i'm sure it was ground breaking in 1976 but this is 2023 and i'm unimpressed. i'm also a hater. 5/10

#6 on Pitchfork's Best Metal Albums of All Time
#21 on Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time
#83 on Metal Kingdom's Top 100 Metal Albums of All Time

highlights of the album are One and To Live Is to Die. everything else is pretty forgettable, which seems to be a theme in Metallica's work. 6.5/10
