gosh where do i start.
every song is a journey, i don't know if i've found an album that moves so much, even within other concept albums
all the beautiful material on here paired with all the ugly, noisy material really takes you on a journey
from "i want wind to blow", a beautiful indie folk song, to "my warm blood", a tragic, empty, ambient track
it ends in silence, you're left empty
no resolve, no emotion
it's hard to listen to anything after a full ... read more
there's really not much to say that hasn't been said. this album is a true masterpiece.
its kinda like whiplash going from one of the heaviest songs of the 60's with some of fripp's most legendary guitar playing into a really beautiful song with equally impressive flute and some incredibly atmospheric guitar playing
but then EPITAPH!!
mcdonald's incredible mellotron on this track is EASILY the highlight, but lake's vocals are just incredible. easily the best track ... read more
its fine.
i can't believe i finished this album
nothing here is really awful, but it kinda starts to sound same-y once you get through the first 50 songs
everything after that blends together, and any would-be stand out tracks just get lost with the rest
it's cool to like do homework too, but in terms of a full official album it's not that great
at one point, i would have considered this album to be a perfect 100. i definitely don't think that today, but my opinion has only mellowed, not soured
i think it may be my most listened to album of all time, it was the first album that clicked for me. i only really started listening to other music in search of something that'd give the same experience as this album
because man... this album's atmosphere is so incredibly comforting to me. it's legendary space rock sound is ... read more
such a beautiful, sad album
this album is so complex, but so comforting
the vocals on this project are super solid too
but it isn't really my thing, after 40 minutes it feels kind of same-y to me, but i can see its appeal to so many
such a beautiful, tragic album
jeff buckley's first, and only fully realized album, is some of the greatest singer-songwriter music of the 90s
the highlights on this album are obviously his excellent cover of leonard cohen's hallelujah and lover, you should've come over are incredible. the latter being so atmospheric and emotional, from the opening pump organ (i'm assuming, correct me if i'm wrong) to the end, no second is wasted
the rest of the album is fantastic, and ... read more
what a great project!
everyone's talking about geese, and they're seriously impressive
everything on this project is so fresh, trinidad's "THERES A BOMB IN MY CAR", au pays du cocaine's beautiful melodies, and long island city here i come's chaos done in such a wonderful, energetic way
while this rating is lower than most's, i genuinely believe geese has so much more in store, and i'm excited to see how they influence music for years to come!
listen one i was irritated
listen two i was intrigued
listen three i submitted
listen four i was jamming out
to have a 2 HOUR LONG album is ridiculous, and to fill those 2 hours with some of the most cerebral and hostile music wouldn't be enjoyable right?
you'd think not, but as soon as you give into micheal gira and his posse of lunatics assaulting you with music something very interesting happens
you like it?
all the repetition drilling into your head reveals a kind of transcendence ... read more
holy holy
this album is genuinely, and proudly, insane
but MAN is it fun
every second of this is packed with incredibly fun, psychotic, and satirical music
at least one lyric on this album will make you really question what the crap you're listening to
and then BAM, you're slapped with the magician
the magician is genuinely beautiful, and without the masterful pacing on this album, it would feel incredibly out-of-place
also i gotta say, the latin influences, chef's kiss
and the ... read more
i... don't get this album
i love the beatles, but this album is cooky bordering on irritating
i'd be insane not to say a day in the life isn't fantastic, but nothing on this album really strikes me as anything special
i can firmly respect this album for what it did for the beatles, and for music as a whole, but i can live happy never listening to this again
i feel almost obliged to love this album, but i'm sorry, i dont
ok computer is great, kid a is great, but this is radiohead's magnum opus
radiohead, a band known for their melancholy and paranoia, somehow managed to create one of the most beautifully human albums of all time
to somehow follow in the footsteps of kid a, and ok computer is no easy task, but radiohead's approach of simply creating something great instead of groundbreaking worked so well
this whole album has an irresistible, dreamy feeling to it
listening to this on a late night is ... read more
gosh this is the most fun i've ever had listening to prog rock
crumbling castle is INCREDIBLE, no second is wasted even in its 10 minute runtime
but the real star of the show is...
inner cell to horology
these three tracks are so tight, you almost aren't left room to breathe
i have no freaking idea how they manage to stay counting throughout these polyrhythms, but whatever they're doing it's great
the rest of the album, while good, isn't anything super exciting, but ... read more
to rate this album anything less than a perfect 100 would be a crime
this album somehow paints such a dystopian, pessimistic view of the world that doesn't make you hate it
even without lyrics i understand its message clearer than a lot of other albums with lyrics
this album is simply incredible, but sleep is the track that stands out most to me
after the tragedy of storm and the darkness of static, i never thought an old man talking about coney island could bring such comfort
and then ... read more
this album is incredible, it feels so grounded, yet so fresh
the first 4 tracks are fantastic, but holy cow...
the last 3 tracks are some seriously good stuff
cycles has a wonderful floyd-esque solo, all i c is just such a jam, and shes not yours sounds so familiar... yet so fresh
even though the project as a whole is great, the last 3 tracks are sublime
im definitely exited to see whats in store for foxtide
this is a masterpiece, truly
isaac wood's fragile vocals paired with the masterful instrumentals from the other band members provides a level of vulnerability most albums will never achieve
i didn't get it the first few times, and some tracks took a while to come around, but this album can't seem to stop growing on me
thank you bcnr for this incredible album :)
