Elori Saxl - The Blue of Distance
50

Some nice ambience. Gets a bit tiring after a while with not enough going on for me to stay engaged with some of the lengthy tracks. It may fit your taste fine but this is not the kind of ambient music that hits for me.

The O'Jays - Survival
70

Saw this awesome cover on my algorithm recommendations and had to check out this 70's philly soul gem. And while it doesn't do anything too crazy with the usual political and love songs the execution is very well done and the pure class is much appreciated. So if you're in a soulful mood why not check this undereconized piece to brighten your evening up a bit.

Hotel Pools - FiLo

(psst! Hey kid! Want some vaporwave?)

Opens not so sus jacket:
- Listen to the album Yourself if you're curious enough. And make your own decision of what songs are your favorite. You don't need a arbitrary list of song titles to encourage you to click play on an album that you are curious enough to read this far into the review. I probably had your ass on the word Vaporwave and maybe you have listened to Hotel pools before and wasn't aware that they released a new album until ... read more

Hello Meteor - Shadow Boundaries
90

1200th review yay! Big numbers!

The past me from a year ago would forever consider Hello Meteor a vaporwave artist and slap that genre label onto this album even though it's very much not of thaat part of the spectrum. Sure there's some ambient vibes stuff but nothing I would consider Vaporwave, Synthwave ( well there are elements of this subgenre but it's not a focus. Also shut up.) or even chillwave. Look at me having grown a braincell or two.

Anyways this shit has such a ... read more

Imagine Dragons - LOOM
65

This music is the kind of shit that 10 year olds are dead obsessed with and plays repeatedly over and over slowly killing brain cells of everyone until they finally give into the insanity and enjoy the dumb music for the dumb music it is. As a man who is both nostalgic for those days, never claimed to be sane or objectively correct. The stupid shit like the crap Imagine Dragons release is a GUILTY GUILTY pleasure. It's stupid. I am stupid. It's brainless brain rot fun. I grew up on ... read more

ReMark - Nameless Folder Of Insufficiency
50

Thanks Remi for sharing your new single to me!

To my limited knowledge I think this is my first exposure to Metalcore and I'ma be dum for a sec and say that there's thrash and death metal elements here. Maybe a bit of emo? IDK. It's fine I guess. Since it's my first toe tip into the genre I am not going to make any grand claims or conclusions until I swim around in it for a bit and that'll take a while.

So take no offense in me saying that I am pretty neutral on this ... read more

Gonnn - Gone
60

Thank you @gonnn for letting me know about your final official release. The EP you worked on with @kidlow was amongst my very favorite releases so far this year and it's unfortunate to learn that your moving on from music releases at the least. I wish you the best of luck with whatever you may have planned for the future!

Now for the mixtape. Real solid chip tune very euphoric and progressive stuff here. It may be because I never got caught in the emotions that the music was trying to ... read more

twelfth - crumbling
50

Thanks Twelfth for letting me know about you latest single and the last release for your lil chilly alias.

It's more of the Alt Rock/Emo stuff that I am pretty neutral on. I'm pretty sure this has been said plenty but I simply am not the audience for it.

MALNEEZY - Comfort In My Noise
70

Thanks @malbeezy for letting me know about your latest single.

Spotify actually added this song in my release radar a couple weeks ago. It's a nice and interesting prog house piece that does a lot to keep the engagement high throughout the runtime. It ain't too memorable long term but in the moment of listening, I had a good time with it. Keep up the good work dude it's always a treat to hear new music from ya!

Sembii - fundament
60

Thanks @sanamdeep for letting me know bout you new mixtape.

It's minorly interesting with enough going on to keep me semi engaged. A couple tracks "Fundament" and "Lesson Learned" are the cuts that stood out for me. Not too bad of a mix, just maybe put a bit more variation on your next effort and you will be on your way to greater things!

Towers Of Dismay - We Were So Focused on Moving Forward, We Forgot What Was Important...
55

Thanks @Fizzletrie for letting me know about you new album!

VERY slow paced post rock. Strangely the thirty minute track was the one that caught my attention. Everything else was fine background music. Pretty relaxing stuff overall just nothing that I would come back to.

Snooze! - DIOR 4S
75

Thank you @snoozeybro for letting me know about this single you released recently.

DAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!

YOU ONLY 14 AND IS ALREADY THIS SLICK? FUCK THAT'S HOT BRO!

Legit though you got mad talent at such a young age, I am mad jealous! Yeah the production is as basic as all get out but no one should care about that with this 14 year old spitting all of the flames! You should definitely have this as part of the mixtape you are working on. Please let me know when you got it ... read more

Camila Cabello - C,XOXO

I LUV IT:
Yeah the chorus is still obnoxious but otherwise it's not too terrible. Almost tolerable but still far from anything considered good. (35)

Chanel no. 5:
Tries to be charming and weird while staying low-key, but I just call it bleh. (40)

Pink xoxo:
Definitely far and away the best of what's offered so far. IDK if it was smart to cut it short before potentially messing up the decentness offered or a missed opportunity to having this reach it full potential of being a full ... read more

deadmau5 - Quezacotl
70

Deadmau5 is so fucking good at the slow burn EDM it's not even funny. First Strobe, then Bridged by a Light wave and now we got another banger in Quezacotl. I need a whole album of this good shit. My ears are so damn happy right now! Sure this song is pretty standard feeling but that damn execution is so great that I have to give props. He can certainly do worse.

Shaquille O'Neal - SHAQ Pack
55

Definition of guilty pleasure. I honestly expected it to not be as solid as it is. It's certainly dated feeling but the throwback production is competent. The rapping and flows are good too and Shaq himself keep up well with his features. The only problem I got is the second track going to that underwhelming chorus three times as if it's something more than it is. I liked the first track well enough to recommend but other than curiosity getting the better of you, this is unessential ... read more

Maitro - LateNiteWave.
60

It's a decent vaporwave album. Got a few highlights within a pretty standard release.

The opener "LateNiteWave" has got a mix of slushwave influence with its overall lofi feel whilst still feeling Vaporwave. An intriguing listen even for veterans lots of cool stuff is packed within this track so I had fun with it.

The next highlight "CoolUncleEnergy" has got this laid back feel while having a nice melody throughout being the anchor as it shifts and molds in ... read more

Kesha - JOYRIDE.

I wanted a few days break from general reviews but my addiction to listening to new music is too much so here I am not even a day later. I tried but my passion won out.

Anyways Kesha. My introduction to her was through a trailer for the Diary of a Wimpy Kid movie with the song "Tik Tok" I was further exposed during my early teen years as I delved into the popular music culture as her prime years of millennial dance music ran supreme. Those magical years of the early 2010s faded and ... read more

The Cure - Disintegration

We close the book of the 1980's with The Cure's Magnum Opus "Disintegration".

I have been slaughtering this iconic decade since last October and I have listened to numerous unforgettable and equally forgetful albums. From some of the most iconic artists ever to some of the most underrated underground artists that have seen a bit more light of day with the attention I bring to their work. It's been a pleasure to partake in this deep dive consisting of hundreds of ... read more

De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising

Couple years ago I was listening to NPR and they were talking about this album finally getting on streaming and why it's so significant. Ever since then I wanted to check this out. Now that the day has arrived I can understand what the hoopla was all about. This shit is GOOD!

The sharp production, the confidence, the casual atmosphere, and the flawless chemistry is electrifying! This brand of hip hop is my kind of jam and I'm grateful that it managed to finally be in streaming and ... read more

The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses

Psychedelic, Funky, and pleasant to the ears. This is very easy to enjoy and I certainly have done that. Now just because there's a bunch of songs that I will absolutely listen to again doesn't necessarily make this album amongst the greats. It's perfectly fine for casual listens but I don't see anything that's going to move souls. I could be deaf tho so don't rat on me cause it made a huge impact on you personally. I just see this as a nice experience that has ... read more

"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
