Some decent Dream Pop. I enjoyed a number of songs including the cover of George Harrison's "Isn't it a Pity". Nothing too memorable overall but there's some fine listening when the voice isn't irritating me.
Recs:
- When Will You Come Home
- Decomposing Trees
- Another Day
- Isn't it a Pity
We got Tom Petty trending before GTA Vl...
Tired memes aside, I can't be the only one that Free Falling was a Coldplay song. Also Petty stole I won't Back Down from a dead cow. This guy is a fraud I tell ya. The music is good so I will let this blatant plagiarism slide this one time.
Seriously though the music is genuinely pretty fucking great! I was surprised by how many songs I was already familiar with and the rest being just as fun engaging listens. This album is a bonified ... read more
Thrash Metal. Except not as tedious but still very boring to go through.
With a wombo combo of throwback to the golden days of psychedelic pop with the charm and excellence of 80's Jangle pop and new wave XTC's Oranges and Lemons makes a significant sonic statement.
Recs:
- Here Comes President Kill Again
- The Loving
- Poor Skeleton Steps Out
- Merely a Man
- Chalkhills and Children
Ryuchi Sakamoto is absolutely GOATED because of his mixing of traditional Japanese tunes with the latest innovations of electronica has to produce for 1989. The release is full of charm and nostalgia. It's a treat for the ears in the later half with it taking a while to get to the point that I was all in with what was offered. All in all it's super solid stuff!
Recs:
- Asadoya Yunta
- Amore
- We Love You
- A Pile of Time
- Chinsagu No Hana
This album at least to me really keeps to the stereotypes of Death Metal. I'm not fond of it.
Listening to Spacemen 3 is always a pleasure and this release is no exception. They are quickly becoming amongst my favorite neo-psych bands thus far.
Recs:
- Come Down Softly to My Soul
- Revolution
- Let Me Down Gently
- Suicide
- Lord Can You Hear Me?
Some haunted circus vibes combined with metal makes for a very interesting combo that had me engaged throughout the album. The screeching voice didn't irritate me as much this time as well. I still wouldn't consider this anything all that great, but it's a good
time for what it is.
Recs:
- At the Graves
- Lies
- A Visit From the Dead
- Amon Belongs to Them
- Something Weird
- Cremation
The gruff voice, the bluesy attitude, the guitar, the country church organ, everything here is playing into my preferences and I highly appreciate it. They are also sponsored by the Texas tourism department with how much they be glazing up that state. I will admit I have been there before and they do have some MEAN bbq down there. Great culture too would love to visit again sometime. Damn it they got me too! Anyways this album is really enjoyable and knows to keep things varied and engaging with ... read more
When I listened to Epicus Doomicus Matalicus I found the genre novel and interesting. With this release I am finding it stale and tedious. This is basically how I became so apathetic to thrash and I still haven't found the appeal to that genre. Kinda sad that another subgenre is shafted to this unfortunate corner but my taste can be pretty ruthless and petty.
Yikes. Looks we caught the horse during his private happy time. We even managed to see the finish.
The cover aside this industrial album was an interesting listen but I only found a couple of tracks worth revisiting.
Recs:
- Fiat Lux
- Partymucke
Generic punk with a bunch of quick lil tracks that breeze by. I heard a few albums that has sounds just like this and I am not fazed by yet another one. I did enjoy "I Want to Conquer the World" however.
The lead singer did say they sucked so I kinda have to rate this low. To be honest they are a fine live act and for my first impression of this band I had an ok time. Just no lasting impressions.
