The Dead Land - The Dog

Thank you @montythegreat for letting me know about your new EP release!

This release is a lot more immediate and attention seeking than the rather distant full album you released not long ago. The dark Gothic feels are still enrapturing. Here's a big compliment your voice reminds me at times of the lead singer of Swans with its brooding intensity can't get enough of it. The sullen guitar is a nice foundation. The haunting Harmonica is here to enhance the melancholy as it does. And I am ... read more

Thanks @Krolljr for recommending this album to me!

What alien planet was this album from and where is the god damn spaceship so you can take me there ASAP!

This album is straight up FASCINATING it keeps you on your toes and always has something under it's sleeve ready to knock your ass into the next planet. I feel both aghast and impressed at what they have accomplished with this release. It's a jam, funky, strange, surreal, calm, intense and so much more. Some like to skip the most important ... read more

大滝詠一 [Eiichi Ohtaki] - Each Time

A decent to good album with a nice amount of variety from the slow ballad to the schizophrenic craziness. I prefer when things go a bit batshit since I have heard plenty of stuff on the other side of the spectrum from artists like Eiichi so it's nice to see another side to them. Still this album is worth the listen even if it's just for the sonic journey it takes you on. It may not be anything new under the sun, but for a 1984 city pop release it's quite the remarkable album.

Some decent electronic compositions. Nothing presented really stands out, but it's some nice background music. Not bad but nothing remarkable either.

God DAMN! A third full release in less than five months?!?!?!

Windows 96 has been amongst my absolute favorites in the vaporwave/ chillwave scene for about a year now and with this recent streak of quality ( at least to me apparently it's unpopular to think Dated New Aesthetic is amongst his best work) albums He is just on a goddamn roll and I just don't want the party to end!

In this album brings the familiar sounds and Vibes 96 provides but even after around 20 fucking albums he still ... read more

Awe that lil forest creature is so cute can I keep it mom?

Yeah this was pretty disappointing. It's just four songs of a cello and flute droning out different melancholic tones for 16 minutes. Was hoping there would be more to it than what was offered.

Mark Wylie - Fable

Some atmospheric guitar lead music to meditate and rest to.

It's very peaceful and pleasant and as the cover art may imply it's got a bit of a psychedelic feel as well which is always welcome in my book. I had a good time with and if you're in the mood for this kind of music it's well worth checking out!

Dua Lipa - Radical Optimism
55

It's got a lot more flat safe radio filler than I had hoped.

Also kinda disappointed that she leaned into stale dance tunes over some fresh pop Psychedelia like it was teased. Like most radio tunes generated for the general public to generally ignore, it's not bad music and won't trigger negative impulses. Still it's shit that you swear you heard before or something stupidly similar to it like a million times before. It's really mind numbing to hear that this kind of music is what is ... read more

Thanks @AG10CENTAVOS for letting me know about your new album!

This one is very chill background music from the ambient to the jazzy. I like it all and it stays engaging and enjoyable throughout the double album length. Great for study sessions and lounge areas.

Emanny - Capsule

Thank you @emanny for letting me know about your single!

Much like Cape this song doesn't take itself too seriously. You keep things simple production wise and be talking some shit over it. Not gonna say that I am going to remember this song nor consider myself the target audience, but I see no foul in this song.

Big TKS - ELLM

I think this is the first Trap Album that I have listened to fully. I have heard singles but not a full release so I guess this is my first full body dive into the genre. So keep that in mind in case any of my takes are "bad" or whatever I am just a baby I don't know the in and outs of the genre yet. Actually I just lied. This is the second Trap album since my man Misterpandaren recommended a French trap album a few weeks back and it was really good! It don't matter to this album and ... read more

Thank you @hiderpnw for letting me know about your latest single for your upcoming album.

I wasn't much of a fan of "reaper" but you said that there is a lot of variety on the album so I will come into this piece with a fresh open state of mind. Let's see what you got!

This single got a synthesizer which is a plus in my book and with like ten seconds of impression I am impressed! You keep things busy with lots of stuff being thrown at the audience but it's orderly fashioned and is ... read more

Thanks @montythegreat for sharing this album to me in my shoutbox! I made these notes as I went along and I just woke up as I began so it starts off with general observations and evolves into some real interesting criticisms and advice. I hope you enjoy it!

Very Moody and slow

The voice is very warm and fits the grim atmosphere that the album drowns within.

Liked Winter pt. 2 cause the drums added some energy and dynamics to the settled soundscape.

Empty Sky is also great with the lonely ... read more

On girl in red - if i could make it go quiet
"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

"@Jakeisthedoctor You mentioned that across the board I have wild takes, are there more recent examples that raises your eyebrows?"
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
