Spacemen 3 - The Perfect Prescription

Lovely Neo Psychedelia, Immense vibes, feels good. Good shit, highly recommend.

Bathory - Under the Sign of the Black Mark

Dark, Brutal, Intense, Foreboding, Hellish, Insane, Demonic.

I love it all. And yeah I immediately got the appeal to this subgenre. This shit is the real deal and while I bet my eardrums might legit explode I want to go to a concert with this intense of an atmosphere at least once before I die. From the short atmospheric tracks to the beyond thrashy tracks that made my face melt this album will slaughter anyone who dares to listen. But it's so worth checking out if you like this kind of shit. ... read more

R.E.M. - Document

Other than the two big hits that I already knew of this album was pretty generic Alt Rock that I quickly forgot about after each song ended.

Charly García - Parte de la religión
55

An ok New Wave LP from the ever handsome Charly Garcia. Everything presented is done well whilst also leaving little impact or impression. I liked "Buscando un Símbolo de Paz", everything else was background noise.

The Cure - Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me
50

Super tedious Alt Rock. Don't care for it in the slightest.

Anthrax - Among the Living
70

Solid. Good even.

Pixies - Come on Pilgrim
50

The instrumental is competent but that voice is not it. Way too whiny.

Eric B. & Rakim - Paid In Full
70

So it begins.

This is the first hip hop album in my long term project of listening to acclaimed albums from 1965 to today. And with Eric B scratching and handling the beats, and the R A to the KIM handling the rhymes and flows it's not a bad start into the rich history of Hip Hop. It's still pretty rudimentary stuff since it's still in the relative early days for the hippity hop. But with what's presented here and the context it's a solid release from the duo.

0/10 no moaning and skinslaps.

Still honestly I wasn't impressed regardless what the album would be about. It's just noise to me with nothing that I could latch onto and enjoy.

Fleetwood Mac - Tango in the Night
85

Fleetwood Mac. It's been ages since I've seen that name, over 7 months in fact. And DAMN, they still got plenty of that magic. The distinct voices teasing my ears, the harmonies, the inventive and fun production. Memorable melodies. Strong lyricism. They are in prime form with this album and at least to me it might just be their best effort. Yes, even over the phenomenal Rumors that I love listening to whenever I am reminded of it. You just can't go wrong with this iconic band. If you haven't ... read more

Tom Waits - Franks Wild Years
50

Yeah the more I listen to Tom the less impressed I get. Swordfishtrombone was an amazing album but nothing since has captured that magic for me. This album breezed by and I remember nothing about it. I am just not fazed anymore.

Marillion - Clutching at Straws
95

I got a soft spot for prog rock. I also got a soft spot for passionate singing and fantastic instrumentation. Lucky me this album has all of that and more! I had such a a great time with this album. Yes it seems a bit catered to my taste and the high rating may be a bit biased but hey this shit is good. And if you like prog rock you'll definitely get a kick out of this bad boy as well! That guitar go hard tho!

Death - Scream Bloody Gore

Very loud. Very Brutal. I feel sorry for that Guys throat. Decent stuff.

Cher - Cher
50

Eh. I like Cher as much as the next guy but this album is just a bit too melodramatic and cheesy for me to take seriously.

David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive
70

Mystifying. Very Haunting. I like it. The voice gentle yet firm, and the instrumentation is just wonderful. Good stuff, looking forward to hearing more!

The Smiths - Strangeways, Here We Come
55

The last Smiths album and it's about how I expected it to be. More of the mediocre music but with somehow even less charm than before. By some miracle I did enjoy "Stop Me If You Think You've Heard This One Before". Otherwise it's more of the stuff that I don't really care about.

The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland
60

I find everything Gothic absolutely fascinating: Witches and vampires and dark stormy castles. They whole nine yards I am all for it. Their dark gloomy version of rock sets such a unique vibe that just fits the whole dark fantasy aesthetic to a T. So by proxy I was interested throughout the listen of this album but I can't say it offers anything beyond my set expectations. Nothing wrong with that but I couldn't help but feel a bit let down. Still this is solid stuff with all of the goth and ... read more

INXS - Kick

Ok if not forgettable. I liked a couple songs, but most of it fell on deaf ears.

George Michael - Faith

Pretty good pop from the heart throb of all genders George Michael. Sure it's mostly the standard 80's pop that you come to expect, but the execution is well done. Plus having a classic track or two doesn't hurt.

"@AidenBowe45 He reminds of Paul McCartney at points with how passionately he sings and the instrumental goes crazy. It's a fun album for sure!"
On Muddy Waters - After the Rain
"@AidenBowe45 I honestly am just too familiar with this kind of style of straightforward Blues, sure it's classic but I find it stale and uninteresting especially compared to other styles that bring more to the table of the genre that makes for more engaging listening."
On Herbie Hancock - Fat Albert Rotunda
"@AidenBowe45 Groovy, funky and takes you on a ride. I don't remember if it goes wildly off the track but I wouldn't be surprised if it did with an artist like Hancock at the wheel."

"@AidenBowe45 I mean it's not the definitive vaporwave experience, but if you're a fan of the genre then there's definitely some solid stuff here."
On girl in red - if i could make it go quiet
"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

"@Jakeisthedoctor You mentioned that across the board I have wild takes, are there more recent examples that raises your eyebrows?"
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."
On Drake - Scorpion
"@Triplo Thanks! I don't often have something to say about an album these days past a standard passing observation, but popular releases from the 2010s are a good way to get be talking at least a little bit."
On Peter Gabriel - Peter Gabriel
"@RSmithFan What I meant was that this was the first album that felt like it was made in the eighties. Don't know why I phrased it that way either."
On Not Marshall - FRIDAY NIGHT A DRESS2IMPRESS MODEL HAS TO SHOW OFF HER NEW AFRO HAIRSTYLE
"@engar where? what? I don't see anything eyebrow raising."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw 👍 Whatever you say bud. I'll keep on doing what I do regardless of your berating."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
