I would argue that this is one of the best hip hop albums of all time, up there with 36 Chambers and Illmatic for me personally

Listen to this album and you will understand why they call Rakim the "God MC"

Paid In Full is filled with songs vital on a shortlist of songs demonstrating the history and evolution of emceeing, and there's no doubt without this album and Rakim in general who knows how long it would have been before rapping escaped the simplicity of its early years, but to listen to it with modern ears its impossible to avoid the unmistakable flaws.
