Saint Pepsi - Mannequin Challenge

Some damn solid vaporfunk album with the particular highlights being the last two tracks bringing an euphoric finish to the album!

Luxury Elite / Saint Pepsi - Late Night Delight
90

Luxury Elite's side focuses on the vibes and nostalgia of Late night Delight( McDonald's are a bitch for getting rid of that sexy ass moon!) Just the warmth and comfort it provides as the lights are dim and the moon & stars twinkle and shine. The whole atmosphere is so immersive and I would kill to be in a nightclub that's all about this vibe.

Saint Pepsi is all about the party and the free spirit. The glitz, the glamour! The ridiculously huge disco ball as everyone funks it up on the ... read more

渡辺貞夫 [Sadao Watanabe] - Morning Island

Ever since I grew to love Masayoshi Takanaka, Jazz Fusion has become one of my absolute favorite genres to listen to casually. And while this Watanabe release is more Jazz than fusion, I still had a grand time with it since I love well done jazz as well. It's just good quality music that once you learn to love there's no looking back and you're a Jazz fan for life. So if you're in a jazzy funky mood why not check out this underrated gem from the heights of the fusion era.

If you have already read my review for the album proper, then you can skip down to where it says part 2. I just like having the full review here. Enjoy I guess?

夕方の犬 [Dog in the Evening] - 2 dogs

Them dogs know how to vibe!

It's a lofi semi hip-hop instrumental done pretty similarly in many of these tracks but somehow it always hits and doesn't seem to wear on its welcome. It's enjoyable for what it is and knows to stay brief. All in all a real solid album.

Ringo Starr - February Sky
70

Man young Ringo is an absolute heart throb! What a hunk!

Wow this is actually genuinely good! It enhances the strengths of the legend and is smart to keep things straightforward and simple. From his distinct voice to the strong guitar plays, to the sharp drumming as always. It's just a damn solid single! Even more impressive that it's coming from an 83 year old legend that has been struggling with his solo career for literally over half a century! Hell his EP from last fall was solid as well! ... read more

菊池桃子 [Momoko Kikuchi] - Eternal Harmony

Momoko Kikuchi one of the legends of city pop of the 80's and Guess what? She's still pumping out the good vibes. This is a real solid effort by the veteran with classy productions and her signature soft and sweet voice you just can't go wrong with that. She still got it even four decades into her career! Check out Starry sky as it's the highlight of the EP and showcases just how good she is the most of the three tracks.

death's dynamic shroud - VIRTUAL UTOPIA EXPERIENCE

DDS either blows my mind so hard or they keep a mild interest but nothing truly interesting happens. Unfortunately for this I it's the later since most of the time I was having a pleasant time with this, but nothing truly engaging was happening. I did enjoy a track or two but I know that they are capable of more than this.

Thanks Neezy for letting me know about your latest single.

It's a nice Electro-Industrial track that offers an interesting dark atmosphere with an ominous voice saying shit over it. Not the craziest thing ever, and it kinda wears out it's welcome pretty quickly with it keeping to the same particular vibe for four minutes straight with nothing really hindering or changing. So while it's kinda interesting at first, I lost interest pretty quickly.

Asumisha - Unfinished Ultra
50

Plunderphonics. Insanity by it's nature by mashing many samples into a strange soup of noise and somehow people like it. I was reminded of Infinity Frequencies my personal favorite artist that delved into a similar genre of broken transmission. But this is just sheer chaos and while I don't see myself returning to this, I appreciate that it's going for with its unhinged chaos. It didn't hit for me unfortunately but hey with this kind of muy you never know what or how it's going to hit ya. It ... read more

Thanks @Chuckisaduck for letting me know of your latest release.

Can't say that I found this amusing or even interesting unfortunately. There's a sense of chaotic energy which is appreciated, but I found it all too disjointed and noisy to bring myself to care all that much. IDK there's elements here that are enjoyable but for the most part I just hear noises with how busy and chaotic this mixtape is. I mildly liked "Criminology Clip otherwise it was nothing that catches my particular ... read more

WOW that was really good! Whatever indie game this is soundtracking I am insta buying cause this was awesome! Truly, I am impressed with each of the four tracks as they each have their own character at they flow well into each other for a nice and cohesive experience! Thank you @hiderpnw for reaching out to me and letting me know about your single "reaper".

I gonna show my ignorance and guess that this is an Alt-rock track hopefully I got the Genre correct. This one he claims to be a bad Trap record. So I am holding on to my seat and bracing to cringe. Please don't get me any headaches. And please don't be too obnoxious.

Metallica - Master of Puppets

The instrumentation goes insane. That's about it. That's all that I got out of listening to this. The title track is a classic and I enjoyed Orion otherwise it's some fun metal with no distinguishing qualities. I know that I am objectively wrong by stating that but I am subjectively finding any weak excuse to say that I did not enjoy this that much. It's Metallica. Some like it Some don't. This is a metal classic that mostly didn't hit for me.

The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead
60

Yup. It's another The Smiths album. I generally find them to be kinda generic like the band name implies. Never are they bad, rarely do I ever find them engaging, they are just there and they do be playing music. Sure they got an appeal and looks to be a broad one at that, but that appeal apparently doesn't apply to lil ol me. I just don't get it I guess. I did enjoy a song or two as you do but this was just mostly background music to me that if I wasn't intentionally listening for this review I ... read more

On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
