秋元薫 [Kaoru Akimoto] - Cologne

Hey I found that one City Pop song that I heard so much. "Dress Down" was one of the earliest introductions to the genre I have had and yeah with this yet another listen it's still such a quality listen! But this album has more to offer than a popular track to put over 90's anime clips. There's "Yoru ga Owaru Toki", "Love Letter", and the closer "Tsukiyo" which are all also great listens for all of your city pop needs. It unfortunate that this is Kaori's ... read more

Mecano - Entre el Cielo y el Suelo

A very strong Spanish synthpop album from Mecano. The production and their voices are absolutely pristine! That's basically all I can judge since I don't speak the language. Still I thoroughly enjoyed myself with this album. Check it out!

Being absolutely PISSED OFF over the horrors of unhinged and unapologetic capitalism has never been so much fun! It has all of the attitude and mockery and HARSH criticism that I want out of a good ole punk album screaming for all to hear FUCK THE SYSTEM!!!!! I had so much fun and I also got mad at our overlords as if there wasn't plenty enough reason to hate their very existence at this point. The fact that this vomit has been happening for this long is an absolute OUTRAGE! I hate everything ... read more

Test Dept. - Unacceptable Face of Freedom

Well that was certainly a ride and a half. Most unique, and when I say that word I actually mean it this time, album I have heard in a hot minute. I found part one and three of the title track tone particularly interesting so at least check those out. But yeah its a very experimental and strange album that will take you to many places you were not expecting. If you're into that kinda stuff I ain't gonna stop ya. Just hold on tight cuz shit be weird. Fascinating, but weird.

One Last Wish - 1986

Got mixed feelings for this. The instrumental rules, but I am not a fan of that guy's voice at all. It's fine overall but the grating strained voice just drags the experience down so much for me.

Camberwell Now - The Ghost Trade

Yeah now this is just great. Everything is just so well executed and is very satisfying to the ears. It's very progressive and out there while staying grounded as well. I only had access to the full album instead of individual tracks so I can only judge on the overall experience, and overall it was very engaging and imaginative which I am all for. Great stuff!

Queensrÿche - Rage for Order

From synths to acoustic guitars it's more than your generic metal album and it always manages to keep things fresh and interesting throughout the experience. The phenomenal voice helps a lot too! It may be unique but damn did it have me under it's spell at points. Really good stuff, I am happy that I convinced myself to check this underrated gem out!

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Your Funeral... My Trial

Dark, Gothic, moody, and depressing. A lot of killing and death too. From traveling carnivals to your own home where you want nothing more than to leave and never return. This album is absolutely rich with strong visual lyricism. The storytelling is absolutely captivating and the moody dark atmosphere choking. This album is anything but happy and will do anything to drag you into its murky depths. I was fascinated by this dark world this band has crafted but I wish that it was a bit more ... read more

Todd Rundgren - Healing

Todd Rundgren. I may have only listened to one album of yours but it's impact left in me is immeasurable. It blew my mind when I first listened to it almost a year ago and it blows my mind once more on the relisten I just had. If you don't know the LP I am talking about it's " A Wizard a True Star". I haven't listened in quite a while but with me randomly finding a track on a casual listen of my shuffled playlist I was reminded of the unhinged genius that I fell so deeply in love ... read more

Kagami Smile - Dream Dust
50

The Kagami Smile Saga continues. Another album another hour of my life spent on listening to a slow gradual buildup to a climax at the end of the track repeated for multiple tracks. It's basically a lazy routine at this point and that's probably the reason why this particular artist was able to pump out so fuckin many albums like nobody's business. I respect the grind. But I hope they learn a new trick at some point.

Mac DeMarco - 2

Man can that guy play a guitar. The gorgeous strumming is obviously the star of the show but everything else plays their part well and you can tell that Mac is singing and playing from the heart. I feel fuzzy and warm listening to the pleasant music. It's nothing too impressive overall and I found a good amount of the album pretty forgettable, but this is a nice step up from the EP and as his first official full release, it's not a bad place to kick off a career properly from. Good ... read more

Moses Gunn Collective - Mercy Mountain

Ahhhhhhhhh..... That scratches the neo-psychedelia itch I was having. While it satisfied that it doesn't do much to bring anything extra to really please the beggar. Like there is some pretty damn awesome tracks such as Mulberry and Sleepwalking. Like overall it's very solid and up to standard. It's just that it doesn't really desire to beyond and into true greatness that will stand the rest of time. There's nothing wrong with that and there's plenty of tracks itching to be put into playlists ... read more

Draag - Dark Fire Heresy

Spotify claims this to be Shoegaze and IDK if it is cause me dum. There's also the fact that I haven't delved mui into the genre so I can't identify shit by ear like I even have that skill anyways. I just listen to music if it good, it good. If bad, it bad. Jesus this review is a disgrace. It's decent music I guess, I don't really know what to say honestly. Nothing leaves much for me to react to. Almost background music but there's obviously effort put into it. Just nothing that ruffles any ... read more

Thanks @notcxrsonn for letting me know about your album

The first half of the mixtape didn't catch my interest all that much but I did notice that breakcore track which was certainly something.

The first track that caught my attention was "all words gone" despite it asking the quietest for it. It's a very pleasant ambient track that does well with its pretty simple structure. Sure it's not the most engaging stuff in the world, but something about it just had my attention.

"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."

On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
