Vapora - For the Lost and the Damned
90

And there we have it. I think Vapora has realized their potential with this album. I truly am impressed in how quickly they advanced as an artist. As all of the albums I have reviewed of them came out in the same year! I am soo happy to see any artist evolve and blossom and this particular one was particularly impressive! This album is quite the gem and I truly hope you check this out as well as their other work that I have reviewed before this so you can see just how quickly they have ... read more

Vapora - Blue Dreams

Ok what the hell. I am very happy that Vapora committed to this different direction cause it's awesome! I love when artists switch up their sounds and identity a bit to keep things fresh. This is their finest work yet and I hope they explore this new path even further in the albums ahead! Highly recommend you check this out!

Vapora - Paradise

Huh I wasn't expecting the direction Vapora would take for some of these songs. It's more effective with it being a surprise so I won't say anything specific. It's just something that I would like to see more out of from this artist. Good stuff.

Recs:
- Starfruit
- Aquamarine

- Fireflies

Vapora - Dystopia

It manages to keep my attention throughout but fails to give me any real impressions while I am looking into what I am hearing. Kinda frustrating but at least it isn't boring.

Kagami Smile - Mirror

Sigh.... Another boring Kagami smile Album. I am starting to think that their debut album being good was a fluke. Cause I really am starting to run out of patience. They really had to prioritize quantity over quality didn't they... Cause there's still SO many more albums to sit through before I am caught up.

Gorillaz - The Fall
90

Their most underappreciated album.

After the disappointing first listen of "Plastic Beach and my quick research of the reputation of this particular album I wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did back in December. There was a good amount of unique and memorable songs that are like nothing else in the entire discography. I was honestly debating whether this or Demon Days was my favorite album of theirs in my initial listen through so far. That thought was shattered as Humanz blew ... read more

Real good vibes right here. It just feels good to listen to this music. It's why I can't get enough of it. So here's a few more songs added to the list of songs to listen to after a long day of work.

- Feel More
- Misty Morning in the Springtime
- Hellebore
- To be Real

ASHER. - BREAKING*

I swear that there's good music in here I just cant think of anything to highlight that'll encourage you to check it out.
Let's just say that there's enjoyable music but don't expect it to leave any lasting impressions.

- His Threats
- Fucked me over again
- A Lot to Think About
- The Walls I can't Break Down
- Don't Forget

Paul Cherry - Pure Grooves vol. 1
80

Love me some smooth jazz on the radio. And this album does a swell job of replicating a relaxing eve on a comfortable chair by the fireplace with this music playing on the background. Your pet of choice is also snuggling on your lap snoozing away. In a world gone mad it's always nice to unattach yourself from it all and just enjoy yourself for an hour.

Recommendations:
- For the Birds
- Our Night
- Triumph, Love, Humanity
- Butterfly Beach
- Taffer's Goodbye

Sam Evian - Life Go Low
70

In my search for some damn good modern Psychedelic music I landed on this single from Sam Evian. This is more in the spectrum of my preference for psychedelia, but not quite there. It's got the easy going vibes and it's got the weird sounds here and there to remind you that you're on it. It's good but nothing too impactful.

Kagami Smile - Overgrowth
50

Mid as all hell. Why did I give even give Kagami smile a second chance...

I'm going to suffer through the Discography anyways if it's going ty be like this for like a dozen more albums. I am just going to go at it real slowly with several albums in between.

Sugar Candy Mountain - 666

I was in the mood for some nice psychedelic music and this one was pretty underwhelming. I enjoyed "Windows" and "Atlas" otherwise it wasn't anything interesting.

CHAPSTICKROACH - The Wax Fountain
75

We got another fresh album. from a fellow AOTY user @chinz I am excited to see what they have in store for me!

They asked my thoughts on this side LP of theirs and I am more than happy to share them! I am also super curious about what the main LP they are working on is all about.

This album called "The Wax fountain" is of the genres electronic, sound, collage, and glitch. So I am expecting quite the wild ride. IDK if this is going to be just them experimenting with noises to see ... read more

IN celebration of my birthday as well as 500 FOLLOWERS(!!!) I am going to review one of my all time favorite albums from one of my all time favorite Artists! The album "Dedicated" by my eternal crush Carly Rae Jepsen!

Back on my vibes shit. Hopefully deep diving into the Discography of Vapora will be a rewarding experience.

Visitor Center:
Some nice ambience of a busy public space, with what I think is a clarinet coming over it. This makes for a pleasant start to the album.

Department Store Stroll:
We got some whirling synths dancing back and forth between your ears and a bit of sax here and there. I don't really care for the whirling synths but otherwise it's a fine song. Saxophone is Always a plus. They ... read more

Drake - For All The Dogs

Decent.

Highlights:
21 savage actually bringing some energy to the album.

Whoa first person shooter is actually a good song???? Wha????

Snoop dawg is always a welcome presence. I love me some snoop.

SZA keeps me awake and Drake is decent.

I liked the melodies of "Tried our Best" but I also got the first temptation to get off the album and listen to something actually interesting.

Screw the work interlude I enjoyed cause at least it was something interesting and new for my ears. ... read more

Kagami Smile - Under

Holy shit that was tedious as hell to get through. I'm so bored that I'm a bit miffed at this slow ass boring ass album. I was going to be determined to get through this Discography but not after this drag of an album. At least it's a good prep for drake since I am in the right mood for it.

On Muddy Waters - After the Rain
"@AidenBowe45 I honestly am just too familiar with this kind of style of straightforward Blues, sure it's classic but I find it stale and uninteresting especially compared to other styles that bring more to the table of the genre that makes for more engaging listening."
On Herbie Hancock - Fat Albert Rotunda
"@AidenBowe45 Groovy, funky and takes you on a ride. I don't remember if it goes wildly off the track but I wouldn't be surprised if it did with an artist like Hancock at the wheel."

"@AidenBowe45 I mean it's not the definitive vaporwave experience, but if you're a fan of the genre then there's definitely some solid stuff here."
On girl in red - if i could make it go quiet
"@AidenBowe45 I am likely not the intended audience since I am a grown ass 26 year old listening to these lyrics. I may not be fully aware of what the kiddos are into these days, but when I was an edgy teenager in middle school, shit like this banged for the girlies."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@OldTask This album is definitely geared towards the artsy fartsy folks that appreciate just how deep into the rabbit hole this experience takes them. Definitely takes an experienced or a very open ear to truly "get it." Not everyone does, but the ones that do praise this shit up and down like I do."
On Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind
"@Moosky This album is fit for a very particular meditative mindset you have to be in for the Inherent strangeness to pack as hard of a punch as it does. Like many albums I love this is like a sonic drug trip that is more to be experienced than enjoyed as regular music. This album has a legendary status because it goes deep into this surreal experimental soundscape unapologetically and not everyone is going to get it, but those who do are immensely rewarded. I recommend you to maybe expand your horizons and listen to ambient/Psychedelic/ experimental releases similar to this so your pallet is more used to what this amazing album has to offer. Cont."

"@Jakeisthedoctor You mentioned that across the board I have wild takes, are there more recent examples that raises your eyebrows?"
On David Bowie - Station to Station
"@Jakeisthedoctor Man I really should delete and reevaluate these albums I reviewed in my early days when my taste wasn't nearly as refined yet expansive as it is now. Back in 2023 I was throwing my inexperienced taste into classics head first with no idea what I was talking about. It's part of the reason why I am exploring the 60s and 70s again along with bolstering my limited playlists. To great success too with my 60s playlist going from 90 tracks to over 750 and growing as I am now appreciative of the greatness that I am consuming. I promise when I get to these albums again down the road, I will likely have a more reasonable take. For now, just enjoy how unhinged I was in 2023."
On Vapora - Oceanside Mall
"@frogofprog oh yeah, Vapora. I definitely had mixed feelings with this artist. They had some genuinely great vaporwave along with...well ones that missed the mark. Yeah I was a bit more loose with my reviews back in 2023 just experimenting with how I liked to present my reviews. It results in some reviews I am still proud of to some I just go crazy on. It is also an era where I was still forming my tastes on like twenty+ genres at once so don't take my early reviews that seriously."
On Drake - Scorpion
"@Triplo Thanks! I don't often have something to say about an album these days past a standard passing observation, but popular releases from the 2010s are a good way to get be talking at least a little bit."

"@I_love_chickenw 👍 Whatever you say bud. I'll keep on doing what I do regardless of your berating."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Good for them and the people that praise their writing. That's not the reason I fell in love with music so I don't focus on it. And that is just as fine as those who do the opposite and completely mute the music and gush over the writing. Different strokes, we all appreciate art in our own individual ways."
On Fabrizio De André - Vol. 1°
"@I_love_chickenw Maybe I'll appreciate that part of the experience when I decide to give a shit about the lyrics. Until then, those pink floyd classics offer an amazing sonic experience regardless of whatever they are yapping about."
