Will seriously removed all the swearing to be a “good influence” on the youth, meanwhile half the songs are about doing drugs. Good thing he changed “trying not to piss my pants” to “trying not to wet my pants” in the song that still ends with repeatedly saying “drug are better with friends / friends are better with drugs”. I was already not feeling the Underscores hype after Wallsocket, so after U, I am feeling even less hype. I just don’t understand the insane amount of excitement over this album. If any other artist released this, it would be seen as a step back. Like Wallsocket has a lot happening creatively. It mixes lots of genres and ideas into quite an interesting experience. This rating is only partially a joke. There are some incredible songs on here, but they are weighed down by the dozens of unfinished and underbaked tracks that are basically just spoken word pieces with a single instrument over them. It’s a cool concept and all, but in practice, it isn’t an overly entertaining result
