I like pop punk. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?
This is a good summer album and it does exactly what the genre is supposed to do
Somehow I've completely overlooked Periphery, and apparently I've been missing out. Took me a few listens to fully unpack this thing, but I absolutely love this album. I was worried about the fairly long runtime, but the song structures keep things interesting, the vocals are great, and the riffs are fun
Also holy shit this album is over 10 years old? This is way better than all of the recent djenty stuff
So this is just store brand Mastodon but I've found this album to be great background music while I'm working. There's enough here to keep me energized, but it's not interesting enough to distract me from what I'm doing
I really enjoyed this, excited to hear more of what they've been working on. Feel like they're going to blow up soon
Came straight here after listening to Leviathan. I prefer the instrumentals of Leviathan but the vocals here are way way waaaaaaaaaay better, therefore I'll give it a higher score. Good stuff
There’s some hits. There’s some misses. But what I really like about this album is that it’s accessible and can appeal to normies. I can actually listen to this when my wife is in the car! Metal could use some more bands like this
Eh.
Sleep Token has so much potential, and give little moments of a completely unique blend of metal/pop/r&b. Unfortunately, these moments are too few and far between. Most of their material just doesn’t strike the right balance. The back half of “Granite” where the heavy instrumentals come in on top of the r&b beat sounds soooo good, that’s what I want from them. Most of the runtime of this album is just mediocre pop/r&b —> hard pivot into metal ... read more
I could listen to Zack scream "ALL OF WHICH ARE AMERICAN DREAMS" at me for like, 12 hours and not get bored
No denying that this goes hard, but I prefer the experimentation and goofiness of Oni
At least half of this album is straight cheeks, but... there's some stuff here that actually works. I like "It Hurts" and "Jailbreak" quite a bit
Same problem I have with Architects, I like the songs on an individual basis but listening the whole album in one sitting is not a great experience IMO. Vocals got pretty irritating by the end
This sound has been done a million times at this point, but this album is really well executed. One of my favorite metalcore albums that I've heard.
