Sepultura - Roots
89

Y'all are just mad that Sepultura's best album is nu metal

Bearings - The Best Part About Being Human
82

I like pop punk. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

This is a good summer album and it does exactly what the genre is supposed to do

Spiritbox - Jaded
85

I've liked the new Spiritbox singles quite a bit. They *are* odd choices for singles though, you'd expect some big hooks or overpowering moments which they haven't had. However, both Jaded and The Void flow really well. Nice vibe. Excited to see what else is coming

Periphery - Periphery II: This Time It's Personal
94

Somehow I've completely overlooked Periphery, and apparently I've been missing out. Took me a few listens to fully unpack this thing, but I absolutely love this album. I was worried about the fairly long runtime, but the song structures keep things interesting, the vocals are great, and the riffs are fun

Also holy shit this album is over 10 years old? This is way better than all of the recent djenty stuff

The Sword - Warp Riders
74

So this is just store brand Mastodon but I've found this album to be great background music while I'm working. There's enough here to keep me energized, but it's not interesting enough to distract me from what I'm doing

Love Is Noise - In the shadow of your former self.
90

I really enjoyed this, excited to hear more of what they've been working on. Feel like they're going to blow up soon

Mastodon - Crack the Skye
88

Came straight here after listening to Leviathan. I prefer the instrumentals of Leviathan but the vocals here are way way waaaaaaaaaay better, therefore I'll give it a higher score. Good stuff

Mastodon - Leviathan
83

Vocals don't do anything for me at all, but I really enjoy the instrumentals. This is great music to drive through Nebraska to, where you can just zone out for a while and listen to some cool riffs

Gridiron - No Good At Goodbyes
90

I fucking love this thing

86

There’s some hits. There’s some misses. But what I really like about this album is that it’s accessible and can appeal to normies. I can actually listen to this when my wife is in the car! Metal could use some more bands like this

Sleep Token - Take Me Back to Eden
70

Eh.

Sleep Token has so much potential, and give little moments of a completely unique blend of metal/pop/r&b. Unfortunately, these moments are too few and far between. Most of their material just doesn’t strike the right balance. The back half of “Granite” where the heavy instrumentals come in on top of the r&b beat sounds soooo good, that’s what I want from them. Most of the runtime of this album is just mediocre pop/r&b —> hard pivot into metal ... read more

I could listen to Zack scream "ALL OF WHICH ARE AMERICAN DREAMS" at me for like, 12 hours and not get bored

Emmure - Look at Yourself
76

This is what Limp Bizkit wishes they sounded like

Emmure - Hindsight
72

It's not good per se, but it's fun

blink-182 - blink-182
84

I am proud of the AOTY users for correctly identifying this as the best Blink 182 album

Darko - Dethmask, Pt. 2
78

No denying that this goes hard, but I prefer the experimentation and goofiness of Oni

Enter Shikari - A Kiss For The Whole World
65

At least half of this album is straight cheeks, but... there's some stuff here that actually works. I like "It Hurts" and "Jailbreak" quite a bit

The Devil Wears Prada - Color Decay
73

Same problem I have with Architects, I like the songs on an individual basis but listening the whole album in one sitting is not a great experience IMO. Vocals got pretty irritating by the end

Invent Animate - Heavener
86

This sound has been done a million times at this point, but this album is really well executed. One of my favorite metalcore albums that I've heard.
