I hate it when Sleep Token does this. Who is this for? The first time I listened to a Sleep Token album from front to back I thought their versatility was really cool, but once you get over that initial intrigue and evaluate the songs for what they are, their pop attempts are just not good. If I want to listen to pop there are a million things I'd rather listen to than this.
Ah the memories of blasting "Attack" while running law runes
I like this album and I don't care who knows it
I had no idea what this was, and now I'm pretty upset that I went the last 10 years without ever listening to this. This is excellent
Dang
The first 4 tracks of this album provide one of my favorite listening experiences of all time. I've tried several times to get that feeling from the remainder of the album but unfortunately I haven't been able to despite desperately wanting it to happen. I think I'll need to be in a very specific state of mind to fully enjoy what this album has to offer. Next time I'm in that place, this will be the first album I run to, and when that happens I have no doubts that the score will improve.
When I was a freshman in college, we took a trip to a modern art museum. There was an exibit with a glass case filled with rocks that had smiley faces painted on them. Behind it, was an enormous canvas that was painted solid blue. I decided to hang out by this exibit to do some people watching. Countless people came by and seemed enamored by this simple display. Was there some deeper meaning that they were able to see that I couldn't? Or were they so desperate to convince themselves that they ... read more
Same Sleep Token formula where we get 2+ minutes of an ok pop song then breakdown then chorus with heavy instrumentals.
Don't bore us, get to the chorus err I mean breakdown! I can see why people like this but I guess this formula just isn't for me. Sleep Token absolutely rips when they want to, I'd rather them just do it from the get go
Really? Nobody has rated this yet?
This is Driveways' best work, a great encapsulation of early-mid 2000s pop punk but stil feels modern
I don't really know what to say other than it sounds like an MCS album. It's fine, just sandwiched between 2 albums that are far better IMO.
There's a couple great songs on here that I cannot get out of my brain, but it's not nearly as consistent as Commit This to Memory
It's good. It's weird. But it's good. There are sections that I find too disjointed to fully enjoy but overall I enjoyed the listen. Definitely want to revisit this in the future. I can see this growing on me
I personally prefer White Pony and Saturday Night Wrist, but every song on here is a banger so I'm not going to overthink it
100
I liked it a lot, just wish Sleep Token wouldn't always make us wait 2 minutes into a song before anything interesting happens. Especially on a single. This will slot nicely into an album though, excited to see what they're working on
The year is 2003
I'm playing SSX 3 (which by the way, can we talk about how great that soundtrack was?) on the Gamecube, drinking that weird "DnL" soda which was just 7up with the upside-down label, and "Stare at the Sun" is blasting. Life is good. And so is this ablum
