Day 2 of listening to all of Idles.
This album is great. People often say that people look like their dogs. Like I can remember one distinct time where I walked past this man walking his dog. It was a shorter man who looked around 47. The first thing I noticed was this man’s stench. It was like bad BO mixed with Axe Body Spray. The next thing I noticed though was that the dog looked almost exactly like him. It was a bulldog with an angry scrunched up face. The guy was the same. It was ... read more
Day 5 of listening to all of Idles.
This album is good. When you slap the word art in front of something I know Im going to love it. Like arthouse films or art pop. Like there are so many things I enjoy that have art in the beginning. Art rock is one of them. It all stemmed from my love of Pink Floyd. The atmospheric soundscapes they made would take my breath away. Especially the track Echoes. Chefs kiss. It then evolved to David Bowie who crossed so many boundaries throughout his career ... read more
Day 4 of listening to all of Idles.
This album is good. I have gone on this segment before, but I will go on it again. The album cover is one of the biggest things in the creation and feel of an album. It needs to truely represent the record in my opinion. Like if I’m a big bubblegum pop fan and I see an album cover with rainbows and lollipops I’m expecting a fun album. If I click the play button on that record I would be dissatisfied with the sound of the record. The album cover ... read more
Day 3 of listening to all of Idles.
This album is good. At the tail end of 2025 I really became a die hard Viagra Boys fan. I’m an Apple Music user so I don’t know if it’s the same on spotify, but one of the first bands in the similar artists section was Idles. I click it because their profile is one of the members in a pink dress and I see their albums. Ultra Mono was by far the most eye catching cover and thus my first Idles album. The album cover encapsulates how this ... read more
Day 1 of listening to all of Idles.
This album is great. I really love any post punk that has came after 2015. Like so many bands like Black Midi, Black Country New Road, Fontains D.C, and Shame. One of the most innovative punk or post punk bands of the last few years has been IDLES. Before this deep dive I only listened to Ultra Mono. That record I didn’t get at first but after listening to it for about a week it finally clicked. This album clicked the exact same way Ultra Mono did ... read more
Day 18 of listening to all of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
This album is good. It has been a long journey throughout all of the Bad Seeds discography. It went from gothic americana to blues rock and all the way up to some ambient styles. Sadly this album stems from another death. Nicks other son passed away in 2022. I don’t know the cause, but it was a very tragic thing in Nicks life. Two of his sons now passed away before him. As a father I would be terrified of that idea. That I will ... read more
