i like the references mø used here, although i feel like she had the potential to use it in a authentic way instead of making a simple rereading of the "edm/post-poprock top 10". it's an entertaining 30-minute ride if you're not looking for anything too deep.

one of the best alternative r&b projects i've heard in a long ass time, and probably a future album of the year nomination.

twigs simply has the ability to make very singular tracks and put them together in the most cohesive way, even when it comes to a mixtape that apparently is only meant to be a fun time.

the only thing getting in the way for this album to be abel's best yet is a few amount of fillers and, of course, the current saturation of 80's references in the music industry that sometimes can make people feel a little less interested (the production here is a killer though).
buuuut...if at some points the project's sonority doesn't feel like breaking news, the sincerity and the rawness in the songwriting and the playful vocals on tracks like "gasoline" certainly feels like one. ... read more
