Pummeling,Empowering, devestating and deeply impactful. Great lyrics for being so simple and honest.
It makes no difference what men think of slowcore. Slowcore endures, even if man doesn't realize it. Before him, it was right there. The ultimate art awaiting its ultimate practitioner. That is the way it was and will be.
Easy ten. Shit's addicting and well composed. The Riffs are impecable and the noise and feedback make it so the guitars sound like they're squealing and chirping under the strain of john reis and Rick frobergs picking. This work imbodies the punkish and angsty youthful sound of genius like no other way. Absolutely a must listen if you want to get into hardcore, noise rock, math rock or like music in general.
Absolute, revolutionary, perfect masterpiece.
I can speak for anyone who held a guitar, violin or drum sticks in his hands when i say this is the pinnacle of the art of instruments. The talent, precision and creativity showcased in this album puts anyone who invested time in music to shame. The grooves, the compositions, the powerful guitar tunes and aggressive drumming. Cobham and mclaughlin form an unstoppable duo, with a limitless supply of tight and fast playing with immense focus and heart ... read more
The longer the better : more jazz, better grind.
But actually tho this is like the best John zorn project outside the mr bungle stuff. Somehow there are some tame stuff here, like the groovy secilian clan where john clearly isn't sniffing glue and improving much, but we quickly get back to insanity like igneous ejaculation and you will be shot. Good stuff overall, although i could do without the screaming.
I mean There's some bangers in there, you know like Gob of spit, blood duster, pigfucker and..... jazz snob eat shit.
Goes hard in the slaughterhouse.
Ok, this is officially it. I'm committing a cardinal sin for the first time ever. I,regretfully inform you lovely frequenters of this site and distinguished music aficionados around the world, that i don't really think this album is great.
However, i'm not posting an official rating yet because i feel that i feel it is not fair to contribute to lowering the score of such a beloved album here so i'm stating it in the review: 6/10.
I get why people give it a perfect score and the appeal behind ... read more
Pretty fun and enjoyable math rock. Sometimes, the guitar wankery gets pretty repetitive and even irritating but when it gets big and loud and complex, it sounds nice and tight.
Not gonna lie, thought it was mediocre at first listen.
Then, it clicked with me when i almost fell asleep listening to it in a car ride at night. Amazing atmosphere, bare and stripped compositions with cryptic lyrics and storytelling. However, no one talks about how fun it is to play these songs on guitar!!!! Nosferatu man,don aman, washer have great riffs that are quite simple to learn, but exciting to master. And the great chemistry between the members behind the scenes. I really wish that i ... read more
But why tho?? Why?
Kash krabs unironically better.
How.is.this.better.than.soundtracks.for.the.blind??
Also, Blood Promise, yeah.
If god ever descended onto earth, this how it'll sound. Trumpets and all.
Quite literally the best and most bold, experimental, funny and enjoyable Math rock i've ever heard. It takes balls of steel to make the drums the highlight and main star of the song in a genre known for glittery guitar wankery. Thank you, damon che and the gang for this one.
