This is the first thing I've heard from Cradle Of Filth for maybe 15 years, I had no idea they were still making stuff. Anyway, given that I wasn't expecting an album this strong.
Loved almost everything except 'You Are My Nautilus', which was OK, but I found the main riff a little annoying, and 'Ex Sanguine Draculae' which sounds like it's being sung by a Doctor Who villain. If these two were cut out and the runtime brought down a bit this would be amazing.
There are moments where the instrumental parts are great, like the flute on 'The Bridge Hotel's, or the groove on 'Strange Old World's but they're few and far between. Overall this is just so simple and the lyrics are basic and cliché-ridden. I guess a rockabilly throwback just is not for me.
Confidence Man always walk a fine line between being great fun and absolutely naff. Wrong side of the line here.
