I don’t think I’ve ever cried this much to a black metal album. The mark of a truly great, a truly resonate album is making me cry.

Lou Reed & Metallica - Lulu

I think it helps to have listened to both discographies, Lou Reed and Metallica, before tackling this. It gives you a much better idea of what both artists were going for with this collaboration.

I think there are some really solid moments here, especially towards the end with Dragon and Junior Dad. Going into this expecting more theatrical storytelling and less melody and typical song structure, you’ll come out not hating this.

It was always going to be difficult for Poppy to follow up I Disagree, which was one of my favorite albums of 2020. That said, it has grown on me a bit since my underwhelming first listen.

Lessen The Damage bangs. Hysteria gives me new wave vibes. Bloom has a beautiful chorus. Never Find My Place ends the album well. It’s a great little package.

John Fogerty - Eye of the Zombie

A record of notoriety, I wonder if the music video for the title track is what caused a bulk of the ire. Outside of CCR, I don’t have much context in terms of points of comparison. Sure, it’s not coming close to CCR classics, but I didn’t find anything super offensive to my ears.

The Velvet Underground - Squeeze

People overhate this record. It’s not a VU record, obviously, but it’s not some sort of heinous, unlistenable mess or anything. It’s pretty bog standard rock for ‘73, and that is okay. Friends is a pretty good song, best one and my favorite here.
