Apart from the title track and fucking problems, his first mixtape surpasses this in every way. I'm so sick of hearing that stupid pitched down 'oohhh' adlib it doesn't sound good enough to spam everywhere. I like 1 train so much modtly cos it doesn't have it.
Edit 60->75: yea I agree with what I said but I think I was just super pissed when I made the review. It's still good
amazing soundtrack for the best game of all time
the first truly great rap album of 2024. amazing
Edit 85-> 90: I forgot about how great the second half of this album is. I still prefer the start, but it definitely maintains a lot of its quality throughout the tracklist. I dont know if i like this album or Samurai more but they both are great.
Unironically a great insight into his mental state at the time
Edit 75->85: Short but sweet, no filler, packed with amazing songs. It just gets better with every song. Ghost Town is for sure the best song but the production on No Mistakes, Violent Crimes and Wouldn't Leave are absolutely amazing.
i need to listen to this album more to finalise my thoughts on it, but i really just dont want to listen to it again, for now at least. somewhat temporary score
Edit (70->90): even for a temp score I def underrated this. Their best album fs
good music, of course i found it through no diggity and i was not expecting the album it ended up being, but it still is good. I havent listened to any of their other stuff yet but i hope they made a full album that has the sound of no diggity
I love the instrumentals, I love them, it's just a shame they were ruined by poor mixing and a rapper that doesn't fit them very well, and at times awful singing (such as in what do I do). This is my first MIKE project I've listened to, so maybe it's me just not getting the album?
Short and sweet project with a great sound, especially the horns. Hoping for a full length project between these two with this sound.
I wanted to come back to this album after vultures released, and it definitely has higher highs than the college dropout, such as we major, hey mama, touch the sky and diamonds from sierra Leone. But it also has lower lows and songs that I don't like, which tcd didn't have, such as addiction. Overall, I dont think it's quite as good as tcd, but it still really really good.
I wasn't there to see the impact this album had, but listening 30 years later it's a good album with a few outstanding tracks.
