"IT'S BEEN AWFUL" has some very solid moments, but I feel like it doesn't need to be 16 tracks. It is pretty repetitive, making for a pretty unengaging album experience at times.
The experimentation on this album has its fun moments but when the songs aren't trying to be experimental they are rather lackluster. I will say that the guitar player is the MVP of this album he locked in.
Heaven Surrounds You is probably Surf Curse's best project to date. The first two tracks provide some stunning atmospheres and are genuinely really good. Midnight Cowboy is also a highlight, the subtle country accent is just so fun to me. I will say that after this a lot of the tracks suffer from the usual redundancy that we get from this band.
Surf Curse's "Nothing Yet" has some solid musical atmospheres, but I would say that it lacks any really captivating features. The songs really blend together and I really didn't like how the vocals sat on the rest of the mix. I will say that the guitar work is nice and some of the lyrics are pretty captivating. But overall this album falls short of Buds for me because the ideas just aren't as interesting.
