in typical Simz fashion she follows the cycle of a big project and then a much smaller project afterwards. the only thing is, unlike eps like 6 or 7 (lmao), this one just sucks
look I'm not expecting too much. it's her having fun making music, and perhaps in a short amount of times as iirc 7 was made in only 6 days. but even with these lower expectations where I understand we'll get more production heavy club songs, everything on here just dissapoints
I don't think the ... read more
like the harry potter song its just boring. its not bad but im not excited
I didn't have high hopes going into this. I love Bryson Tiller and he took over my 2025, but I'm not gonna act like he is always stellar on everything. But much to my surprise he actually did really well on this beat. I heard the beat and basically all hope went out the window for Tiller to know how to use it, but somehow he completely floated on this.
Then we have PlaqueBoxMax....
Wow Max sounds bad. He sounds like a mumble rapper that's trying to sing for the first time. ... read more
definitely an interesting drop.... cool vocal and strings.... I just wish he was more prominent on the song
could have been really amazing but it missed the mark sadly
The beat on GANG OVER EVERYTHING is the same beat used on Lil Durk's Deep Depression. That's how little quality control went into this album
The beats are basic and boring. Savage is basic and boring. I don't mind a simple spooky trap beat, but its all just the same thing over and over again. After hearing the first 2 songs you've heard everything this album has to offer.
Seriously how is 21 Savage using such boring flows on this????? Its preschool school level flows. He ... read more
This is that JPEGMAFIA x Flume collab EP again but good this time
Yeat delivers yet another project that give hype rage songs with some deep cuts, that in a genre focused on only getting turnt, is a breath of fresh air. BNYX really outdid himself with the beats on here, making sure everything always felt unique. And Yeat of course uses his voice in interesting compelling ways
Yeat is one of the few rage artists who takes things to the next level and has actual artistry
Been out for a few hours and its already overhated.
Its an ATL throwback album with ATL artist for ppl who were around for that time. I didnt even like the album. I didnt even finish it. But its cool and I greatly respect it.
overhated/10
A quick review on my first time listening to Jim Legxacy
I kept seeing this guy pop up ever since this album was announced recently, and along with the high praise its been getting I figured I should check it out. I know he's an underground UK rapper that does jerk and stuff. Thats all I knew.
So I'm listening and its pretty good so far. Its very soft and mellow while still having these jerk type drums and loud bass. I hear a line along the lines of "She don't like rappers ... read more
THIS is what I wanted. Thank goodness he pulled through. Looooooove the beat and Joey throws a ton of great disses and responses to bars. Everything about this diss was great and then he pulls out a surprise feature from renowned battle rapper Loaded Lux. Getting a battle rapper to tag team in is such a smart move, and I've even heard that apparently Daylyt and Loaded Lux are having a battle at the end of the year. So this is extra sure to get in Daylyt's head, both good for Joey now ... read more
I love Daylyt but cmon bruh. Wack flow. SUPER WACKY VOCIES. Seriously how has nobody said this? Like dude cmon its a diss song, not a battle rap. Get that delivery outta here its not fitting for this cmon man
And dude.... Please dont try to do no Meet The Grahams. This is a cool competitive beef. It does NOT need to get personal like this. Leave Steeze outta this. Leave Ab-Soul's suicide outta this. Just rap about whose the best and throw in a diddy line or whatever
Hella catchy. Great song structure. Great disses, both funny and scathing. This is super well done. Seriously I've played it like 20 times. Repetition leads to people believing things more which is why I think it's so important to make a diss track that has catch to it.
Only thing I don't like is how much he calls back to Kendrick and tries to be like him. Even calling out Joey for crying its a 20v1 when Joey LITERLLY NEVER complained about that. Besides this Kendrick imitating ... read more
With this probably being my AOTY, I wanted to write a review on it. But as there are already plenty of reviews written, this will simply be me listing mostly things I love and appreciate that many have NOT noted in their reviews.
The 6 points that i'll get more into are:
1. Commitment to the "Old Mixtape" Sound
2. Why This is the Perfect Time for an "Underground" Record
3. The SpaceGhostPurp Diss
4. Thoughts on the Deluxe Version
5. 'Got Me Geeked"
6. ... read more
This is the first Kenny Mason project I've checked out. After hearing him hold his own on some songs with JID and Denzel Curry, two of my goats, he's held my interest as an up-and-coming artist
This mixtape is 2 sounds. Southern rap, and calm alt rock. I actually have heard one song from Kenny before, and that was on "9". It was some metal song, so I already had an understanding that he was open to rock and venturing out of rap. Granted rappers doing rock never really pans ... read more
It's basically Westside Gunn rapping over modern boom bap beats for 25 minutes about the standard drug dealing and gang life combined with high art. Then you get all the features thrown onto the last few tracks. Still Praying is a fantastic track. Sadly Boldy James had the weakest verse and he's one of my favourite artists
Also don't expect choruses
I just wish he experimented more, since AND THEN YOU PRAY FOR ME had him messing with old trap a bit.
Its just a standard ... read more
Doing a FL review to this
Gallant has been one of my favourite rnb artists since I discovered him during lock down. I was a music noob at the time and witnessed him drop Sweet Insomnia. That album was pretty good with some addictive production every now and then
Neptune did a better job at painting a soundscape and overall Gallant sounded more mature. Sneek was an interesting detour that I only return to for Tandem
So here we are at Zinc. Was I excited going in? Honestly... Not that much. ... read more
[Mid-length review] [Well for now I guess] [Oh and by the way this is probably my AOTY]
Boldy is a fantastic rapper. Conductor is an amazing producer. They have great chemistry. What more is there to say? Well, there is a lot more to say, but at the very core, that is what this album is: a great rapper and a great producer coming together to make a great album.
"Across The Tracks" is such a fitting title for a Boldy James album. I believe what makes Boldy such a great ... read more
One of the best Detriot -based artists finalyl raps on a Detriot beat
Hearing "Helluva made this beat, baby" made me big smile :D
Song itself is pretty good. Good standard Detroit beat, Boldy does his thing as always.
Not to say that Boldy is one note, but as someone else once said, you kinda go into Boldy James' music for the beats, because you know he's always going to deliver
like a 6/10. Its just standard Boldy but over a Detroit beat. Novelty song
some nice, slower bpm, rage music.
its rage music tho so yknow dont expect anything that different to what the genre has already shown
Conductor shows once again why he's one of the best modern boom bap producers. Despite not having crazy chops he clearly spends a lot of time sample digging to find the perfect loops and never adds to much to the beat than what is necessary. Nice simple marching forward drum beat on this one.
And boldy does his thing to quite well
