I like the direction. But his voice is too elastic-y in some places and my main complaint is that the song ends way too soon.
Nice to see a bit of a return for Roddy, but it could be better and I fear the album wont even reach this level of quality
It do be kinda catchy tho
is this new album really gonna be just opium type beat music??? as if there isnt enough of that already
Alright aggressive/trap rap single by PlayThatBoiZay. It's pretty short and there are some lines I don't like, but sonically its very nice. From that hard hitting bass to the adlibs in the background and all the distortion.
There's a lot of stylistic similarities to Denzel when he was in his trap metal bag, and since the 2 have worked together before and Zel has pretty heavily promoted this friend of his, I wonder how much PlayThatBoiZay was an influence for Denzel when he was in his trap ... read more
pretty good. great mood set that's very pretty, especially with how this track has no drums at all. All 3 artists sound good although I don't think they blend well together. There's nearly no chemistry. I highly doubt they were in the same room when this was recorded. Still tho its nice KayCyy is dropping again
Amazing production and Lancey leaning more into singing works great. But like the other single I wish the verses were more engaging. I just zone out and don't remember them
it doesn't even need to be said why tom macdonald's music is terrible at this point.
only time I was somewhat happy listening to this was when ben said something like "no cap homie" or whatever
Okay when I first found out about YUNGBLUD I thought he looked like the cringiest kid of the year and his music would be terrible. Maybe his music is terrible I still haven't listened to him outside of this track, but wow this track was actually really good. Only complaint is the Yachty feature. He does the vibrato thing again but in a lower register and unfortunate it doesn't blend in that well with the song.
The only reason I checked out this track was because it had Yachty on it and ... read more
I swear, so many people here are tripping. I've seen so many people say that Yachty is offbeat, but don't forget he released that Detroit tape a couple of years ago, where that whole sound revolves around the offbeat flow. On top of that, this, for lack of a better term, "jazz" beat fits perfectly for offbeat rapping, since I mean, it's jazz rap. Jazz is all about going against the norms of music. And to even further go on, I put the instrumental into an audio editor, and I can't even ... read more

Look, I told myself that I would never review a project until listening to it in full at least twice. I do not care here. I just listened to it from start to finish and don't ever want to do that again. I was going to review Drake's 'For All The Dogs' but didn't because of how much I dreaded having to listen to that album from start to finish again. I do not care here. I'm not spending another hour and a half on a 28-track album of boring, ... read more
Go watch the recent podcast episode Rick Ruben did with Kenny Beats. The way Kenny is talking about his dad (which this album is a tribute to), the passion in his voice describing each song. The story at the start about how he found out his dad has cancer and wanted to make this mixtape for him since his dad would always make mixtapes and they bonded over music. It's making me want to cry.

Last year I discovered BabyTron through a Lyrical Lemonade music video, where he rapped over many famous beats, giving only about 10 seconds per beat before swiftly switching to the next. This piqued my interest in who BabyTron was, and I soon found myself listening to a few songs on YouTube, followed by the 2 albums 'Bin Reaper 3: Old Testament' and 'Bin Reaper 3: New Testament.' Then before I knew it, he became one of my favorite artists. His witty and engaging ... read more

Lil Yachty's debut mixtape 'Lil Boat' is such an interesting piece of art from the SoundCloud era to me. The SoundCloud era brought in all of these young kids with bright hair, flipping rap on its head with their silly, fun, trap sound. And this album is in my opinion one of the most interesting and UNIQUE projects from that era. The icy cold production and child-like innocence, mixed with many other factors I'll get into, is why I honestly think this is a great ... read more
Wow. I did not expect the single for this album to be a deep cut. Man, this song hits. Like we actually got the good version of Drake in his feels again. I guess 'For All The Dogs' being "Drake bringing old Drake back" means the moodier rnb Drake and not the hype "started from the bottom, now we here" Drake
This actually has made me excited for 'For All The Dogs'. That and how Lil Yachty was talking very highly of it, saying it's "very current". And on top of ... read more

Some of the songs that hit, HIT. Also I'm continuing to find even more wordplay that went completely over my head.

I've been a fan of BLP Kosher ever since I saw the music video for 'Mazel Tron' on Lyrical Lemonade. While his appearance is initially off-putting, sticking around for a bit shows you an artist with constant clever lyrics, fun punch lines, and an interestingly fun personality. The Detroit beats he raps on almost always hit, and he has ... read more

Travis pretty much always went all out. His flow on 'MY EYES' is the best on the album. Just incredible.

The features were all great. Drake was really really good which is nice to see. He's done great features before but also some that are just meh, so I'm happy with just how good he was. Yung Lean being on here surprised me as I didn't know about their backstory together. I wish he had an actual verse though. Carti and who I think is BENO ... read more
Would have been nice if Travis was on it more, mainly in a hook. Also why does this not have a hook???????

Bad Bunny was fine ig but I have no clue what he's saying so its hard to enjoy (Obviously he doesn't have to perform in English, either way, music in a language you don't understand is almost always less enjoyable).
Insutrmental is fine. Kinda groovy, some nice little bits of atmosphere. Weeknd does his thing.

Cochise is an interesting figure in the current wave of new rappers. Taking clear inspiration from projects such as Playboi Carti's 'Die Lit' with the spacey trap beats, that high pitch sometimes baby-voice, and of course, using repetition as a tool to gain success. With songs such as 'TELL EM' going viral, Cochise is able to stay within a particular lane of his, that while *is* narrow, is able to make his unique take on the style enjoyable and distinct enough that it stands on its own. His ... read more
This album is Gunna in his element. He fully knows what to do with this album, and that is make something that's easy on the ears, fades into the background if need be, and provides a feel-good trap energy to the listener
The album is filled to the brim with pretty guitar loops that glide across slick trap beats, whilst Gunna takes the forefront with catchy hooks and choruses to help bring each song into a complete package. This specific style that Gunna became known for is evident throughout ... read more
