Bro this is awful it sounds nothing like the album, the lyrics are terrible, the vocals are especially terrible, it's just a bad song
After seeing the much more vibey album arts and the new label, I thought X ambassadors would come through with something good. They... kind of did. This is easily better than everything else I've ever heard from them (And I listened to their deep cuts back in the day,) so that IS something. There's just something really missing here, like they wanted to go acoustic but ended up watering down their ideas. Firstly the positives- The production is not high quality but that was intentional as far ... read more
It's not a 0 in reality but it deserves it for ruining a childhood song with "hip" pop trends that sound awful
My patience is waning, is this entertaining?
THIS LIFE IS SUCH A RIDE, I LIVE UNTIL I DIE
"Get it, got it, want it, tell me what to do when I'm on it"
Oh the misery, everybody wants to be my enemy
This album is literarly just spacefiller. Like nothing substantial happens until maybe the last track. Literal waste of time, same thing as oragins where I feel like I am listening to an album of only radio filler. Same thing goes for act 1, but not as severely.
They were my first band I really got into, and to be honest it still holds up as not half bad these days. The opener is the best track here and likely the best song the band has ever made, and though the album does have a few filler tracks like I Bet My Life, arguably I'm so Sorry, Polaroid, and Trouble, a lot of the songs here are quite enjoyable and far better than everything the band did after. Lyrically the album is far better than everything else they've done, and instrumentality as well ... read more
What... what is the critical appeal in this song. Like... I actually TRIED to like it, and every part of this song is horrible. The beat is the most fashion commercial beat I have ever heard in the worst way. Literarly the only thing that I somewhat enjoy about this song is the guitar "riff" buried in the background on the verses, and that is two lines. The lyrics are SO BADDDDD Like they aren't the worst I have ever heard, but they are painfully surface-level. The switchup at the end ... read more
Before the review I would like to say that I used to be a huge fan of the band and have the opinion that they fell off so bad after smoke and mirrors. The song starts with a really promising intro which is almost immediately dismissed into a decent guitar line, but the song does take a hit when Dan starts singing, and especially when the electronic elements arrive. It's like they had a decent emotional song idea and decided that they needed to make it as epic as possible for no reason, even if ... read more
Musically this song is machine gun kelly levels of trash, but that's still a 15 in my books, because that leaves room for thirsty by AJR below it. The lyrics bringing technoblade's death, however, is disgusting. This is not genuine, leave the man alone. That turns it to a 5 for me.
I used to at least tolerate this album, it is agonizing... Me and my friends make fun of it on a phone speaker, but listening to it with headphones is torture in the most literal sense. Nothing is good about this album whatsoever and I think it is one of the worst if not the worst of all time.
New arcade fire is the best. Highlights: chemistry and electric blue, every song is better than funerL. Still has a lot of work to do to surpass the click
Goes without words. This is the worst of their first three albums which says basically nothing because it really is still absolutely incredible and without a doubt worth a listen.
Holy crap... There is so much emotion and the lyrics are absolutely perfect. Though I felt this album drags from 6-8, it really is worth a listen.
I have listened to this album so many times because my brother loves it, and he is correct. Don't even bother reading a review, just listen to this, trust me it will be worth it.
Edit: Score 25->40, this song has grown slightly but I still dislike the song. I feel bad for the band and their family, but the song's instrumental, especially for the chorus, definitely leaves a lot to be desired. That may or may not be because I dislike singer songwriter, though. Lyrically most of my complaints are gone, except for the occasional bad rhyme like the one about grass being watered for some reason (they could have done basically any other line and it would be better), but the ... read more
Very much a step down, but still funny for the first two tracks and closer
I mean, it's better than the original. The work from the orchestra brings this song up a lot, and the instrumental parts actually kinda had me enjoying it. The writing on this song is still really bad, the lyrics make me cringe so hard. The first verse has lyrics pertaining to death in its entirety and feels real and personal, and if the song leaned more onto that rather than cringe uses of instrument names that add absolutely nothing to the song at all maybe this song would be in the green.
As a former imagine dragons fan, this album is their worst LP. At least with most albums I can gain something like a track or two, but this album is just awful, front to back. Not a single track I would ever return to, even with my nostalgic factor giving it even more chances. This is where it really feels like the band COMPLETELY gives up- Night visions is inconsistent but slaps in a few places, smoke and mirrors is by far their best album, then evolve makes some form of sense with the rock ... read more
