LITERALLY SOBBING THE WHOLE TIME
(and i know the end is my favorite song of all time)
good job ariana ur using the same fucking beat a million times to express how horny you are. a true masterpiece.
my relationship with taylor swift's music is very odd. i had grown up with her music (as a lot of people had) and i thought she was okay, i didn't think i was a fan until about late 2021, where i really enjoyed folklore (i still do) i went back and listened to her whole discography for the first time in 2023 where i got confused. i hated reputation. i didn't like fearless. i thought lover and midnights were…bland. and i didn't like her debut at the time (that has changed when relistening ... read more
my defense of this album is now huge
let me explain
for the longest time, i hated country, like actually despised it, now i am appreciating it more i decided to relisten to this debut. it isn't a masterpiece. but for a 16 year old girl it is, this is impressive, it has fittingly cringy lyrics which are endearing as hell, that passion was there. she made this album how she wanted. it wasn't to appease any fans, it was because that was her passion. i miss that about taylor swift. with the ... read more
i want to be a cool music boy and say "oh yeah this is the best album of all time. easily" but i can't. there's a few reasons:
1. to pimp a butterfly exists
2. this album isn't a perfect album. no matter how close it just isn't. sorry.
3. Thom Yorke is Thom Yorke and that kinda irks me when saying this is the best album ever (that doesn't affect my actual rating though so)
now. is this a good album? yes! was it ahead of its time? it still is! is it perfect? no. no its not. it has ... read more
there's something missing. i listened to this album for the first time in lockdown, i was going through a rough time. this fun pop music was really what was keeping me going, claws was on my playlist and everything. listening to this album now, and as a now self-proclaimed music nerd, it feels almost. too focused on lockdown to really pull its emotional weight in present day. it's reminiscent of being alone and sad but it doesn't hit the same now the pandemic is over. i do still ... read more
i get why some rate this 100. i really do but for me i haven't latched onto this album like i did vespertine. it's still so beautiful and the orchestral instruments work so well and obviously influenced albums in the future like born to die etc. but influence doesn't mean perfection they often go hand-in-hand but not in this case.
i feel like im being mean but im not, this album still is truly incredible and her vocals sound as appealing as ever and it's still a work of art. love u björk ... read more
i don't think i have anything to add that hasn't been said already
sometimes music nerds (me) need to get over themselves. this album is beautiful. is it perfect? no. but it's so close. the production is so crisp, it's so consistent. the track listing works. i would go on but i don't care, this album is great. good job miss swift.
takes a deep breath "fantano was right but im still mad at the fetch the bolt cutters review"
it's weird. how did we get from this heartfelt body of work to vultures, this album isn't a masterpiece, but it resonates with me, the back half of this is amazing, the production is good. and i want this kanye back
it makes it feel like i hate taylor swift but i PROMISE I DONT this is easily her worst album
the middle of this album is SO STRONG with title track and supernatural but the back of this record is NOT GOOD
