girl, same. i also write in blood on the walls if my pen doesn't look nice that day. we are the same
coming to my first MatC album was something that i really should've done last year, however i never got around to it, so when i see a whole new LP releasing at the start of the year i have no reason to not indulge myself in some good old new age ambient tracks.
'parascapes' while not a real word seems fitting for this record. the greek meaning for the prefix 'para-' means to be alongside or beside while the original latin root 'paro' means to shield against. ... read more
well, its fiona apple and carly rae jepsen. in a mashup. did you want me to give it anything other than a 100?
merry christmas!! im not too pretentious yet!! (Yet. i have yet to listen to the swans "to be kind", ill check back in after) this song is my biggest guilty pleasure. i go to sleep thinking about this song. i wake up with the hardest cock because i was dreaming about "shalalalalalalalalow". to express my love for this song. i am going to translate
my love into terms that everyone will be able to understand while not daring to be offensive. i am a man but i do not listen to ... read more
lilly allen-type instrumentation works very well when talking about deeper topics. there's something very juxtaposing about the peppy piano-rock with 70s flair and often quite george orwell political ideas.
the easiest example of this is one of the most popular tracks "oh no!" which is a glittery bowie kind of song. it does admittedly bang hard. there's other tracks that embrace american iconography (which is explored much more on electra heart) and there's others ... read more
im going through some old classics right now.
my life as a petite woman has surrounded music. and the beatles has always been such daunting figures. like i would feel too overwhelmed to go up to the task.
i have listened to this album many times through as a young boy, my family is not a rolling stones or blur household. so to come back more professionally and with intent to give something a score at the end felt scary. (im a pussy okay)
but at the end of the day the score isn't gonna ... read more
i think the main reason i picked this record to celebrate yet another teenage birthday is because it reminds me of adolescence. an emotional time for millions of people.
i also believe that it reminds me of myself. as i am a deeply contemplative person. and i think through all the chaos, there's a peaceful core - or at least a core that wants peace.
the brooding guitar chords and heavy synth-work makes a very peaceful, cozy environment that i think only shoegaze could perform. obviously ... read more
sometimes boring doesn't mean bad.
i know virtually nothing about pop trio FLO but i saw this making a buzz. and because im not COMPLETELY obsessed with sad music (seasonal depression x). i thought i'd check it out.
and yk what? it's...not good, not even admirable. but i enjoyed myself! if you are looking for dressing room music look no further than here. the power of cheesy "FOR THE GAYS! WE LIKE GAYS!" music this decade is obviously still in full force. idk come ... read more
if you wanna know where practically every piece of interesting pop music came from, just listen to this album.
released in 1998, when madonna was reaching 40, she dropped her best record yet (trust me age does not matter in art). now to some - including my ENTIRE FAMILY - this is where madonna started worsening. but to me, this is where she managed to truly flourish. the downtempo beats on this record are addictive and pleasing, the bass is so, so vibey. the psychedilia influence doesn't ... read more
gonna go cry into my hybrid theory poster brb
if you didn't know, linkin park has been one of my favorite metal bands ever since i was a wee child. partly because my dad is also a big fan. and seeing this fall from grace is...not very satisfying.
now, all controversy over the new singer out of the way, this is a major step down from their previous greats. and it usually isn't even emily's fault, it just seems like a major decrease in quality.
now, nowhere near as bad as one ... read more
oh poppy you blew linkin park out of the water
if you remember the viral robot girl from the mid-2010s, this is her now. poppy has grown into one of my favorite modern metal acts. you just gotta take a look at something like "BLOODMONEY" to understand how hard-hitting her music can get. and "negative spaces" is no exception.
i only really needed about 2 listens before i came to the conclusion that this is one of the catchiest metalcore i've heard in recent memory. ... read more
this is art. like genuine art. this is the most jaw-dropping experience i have ever had with music
