This album was very underwhelming. The production was okay, but the effects added onto the vocals made the album almost unlistenable. Billie Eilish has a good voice, so I am not quite sure why they had to ruin it with these layers. The writing is not something I'm too liking of, but everyone has their styles. I do not really fit with the themes of this album. It sounds like something any music student could make, but it is just her second project. Although this album was not the greatest in my ... read more
Rare by Selena Gomez is her first album in four years. Me being a Selena fan I was looking quite forward to the album. Upon first listen, I was not too disappointed. The album is fun and is like every other pop album. On my second listen, I started to notice these songs get quite repetitive and there is no real structure to be found in most of the songs. Some songs on the album do stand out for me. Tracks like "Ring", "Vulnerable", and "Cut You Off" are tracks I ... read more
The Pinkprint is a major stepping stone for Nicki Minaj. Striving further away from "pop", and moving into an album full hip-hop album. I believe this album redefined female rap, and hip-hop in general. Gathering pop elements and turning them into hip-hop beats is something not many artists before Nicki Minaj thought to do. The introduction to this album is a slow, emotional ballad that displays the honesty in Nicki Minaj's life. The mix of material in this album adds a thrill while ... read more
Dua Lipa's second album; Future Nostalgia proves she is a force in the music industry. With compelling vocals and extraordinary theme, this album is guaranteed to win her major awards. I do believe this is one of the best released albums of the year. (so far of course). My only issue with this album is that after a while, the song start to get boring, really fast. They are still good to listen to, but it just doesn't ignite the spark it used to.
This album showed Jessie's strengths as an artist, and the production is incredible as well. The album is written beautifully and every time you listen you discover a new metaphor, meaning, or sound you haven't heard before. Although it is an incredible album, I do wish the project was more cohesive. Yes, it does tell a story but it always switches to happy, then sad. For a debut album, this exceeded my expectations. The songs also have not gotten tiring, after a month of being released.
