(Originally listened to this project on the 17th)
To be frank, I'm kinda disappointed with this.
I have been a Tame Impala fan for the last few years, and Deadbeat is the first album I have taken apart with its release. I enjoyed the singles, primarily with Loser and Dracula (Probably one of TI's best songs from the last five years), but as I listened further into the album, something was missing. Deadbeat is not a bad album by any stretch of the imagination, nor an aggressively ... read more
Honestly better than End of Summer.
I’ll probably give that a 7/10 now thinking about it.
It’s kinda like what I did when I saw The Bad Guys 2 last month, funny enough (Felt like the sequel was more ambitious than the first one could ever do).
And you know what makes things more the merrier? The original book series was made by an Aussie author. I know I’m not Kevin Bacon, but I’m getting there with my connections! Oh boy, I already sound way too pretentious.
Not as sauceful as his previous album, but still really fun to listen to.

Listing to this after attending HS graduation (I'm a junior, but one of my friends is a senior who outright loves Tame Impala) was pretty dang special. Front to back, Kevin is locked in, and the sound that he provides is, in some cases, transcendent.
On a side note, please give us a new album soon!

I randomly decided to relisten yesterday (As of writing this) while washing up for the night. I have nothing else to say besides saying that I had an amazing time reliving this album once again.
Favorites: Every actual song, including some of the interludes

Still believe that After Hours is slighter better (By a hair) but man, this is fantastic. What a way to cap off a career (For The Weeknd, not Abel himself). This really has the potential to be my favorite in the future, and I mean it.
Favorites: Wake Me Up, Cry For Me, Open Hearts, Timeless, Take Me Back To LA, The Abyss, Title track

Nothing really special compared to his previous albums imo. At least we get After Hours after this!

I can see why fans go crazy whenever this album is mentioned in their daily lives.

Right in the middle between HOB and Thursday in terms of quality. D.D. slaps!
Favorites: D.D., XO/The Host, Echoes of Silence
Least Favorites: Juicy J's oddball appearance
Not as good as HOB, which isn’t too surprising. The biggest drawback from me at least is that in some sections, this album is stretched out too thinly, and it’s not as tight knitted as its processor. A track like Gone is a great example of this, and the constant repetition slowly becomes monotonous for my liking.
There’s other small, minute details that don’t strike a chord with me as with HOB, but looking at the grander scheme of things, I don’t think it’s ... read more
Still surprised that I haven't listened to this before, given I'm a Weeknd fan, but thanks to Hurry Up Tomorrow releasing (As of writing) days from now, it was a excuse for me to finally listen to the trilogy (Along with Kissland and MDM). I'm eager to hear Thursday and Echoes of Silence now. Fantastic debut from him.

The reaction I have seen so far is making the Last of Us run for its money in terms of how polarizing it is.
In my opinion, the first 2/3 ranges from fine to relatively good. Half of it feels like something straight out of the Idol (Both sound and lyrics). That 1/3 is where this song really shines. It’s weird that all three singles so far are so different in soundscape and direction but I’m curious how Hurry Up Tomorrow ties in all of that.
Maybe I change opinions or what not ... read more
