"Patterns in repeat" is definitely a gorgeous sounding album and there are some highlights that belong in any sad indie-folk playlist but some songs just sound like they dont know where they’re going and just kind of play out without much excitement.

Its no "clean" and its no "sometimes, forever". Its not front to back perfection like the former and not a surprising and experimental left turn that wildly exceeds expectations like the ladder because as much as it pains me to admit it; there are some duds and they do effect the listening experience of this album especially around the mid-point of the record where the hooks just aren’t there and the lyrics are forgettable too. I dont know what exactly happened here given how good -death of a cheerleader- was but this is really mediocre. I dont even have specific things i dislike about this Album apart from maybe the synths that make some of the songs sound cheap. But that would be more than excusable if the songs were there. They’re not. The lyrics are as generic as it gets, the chord progressions are predictable and the melodies are in one ear and out the other. There are like 3 bright spots which exemplify ... read more
