Fiona Apple - When the Pawn...
87

When the pawn hits the conflicts he thinks like a king
What he knows throws the blows when he goes to the fight
And he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring
There's no body to batter when your mind is your might
So when you go solo, you hold your own hand
And remember that depth is the greatest of heights
And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land
And if you fall it won't matter, cuz you'll know that you're right is pretty good.

PinkPantheress - Heaven knows
70

Need to break more into the R&B world, and this is a great way to do it.

the pillows - HAPPY BIVOUAC
83

Don't know know how I stumbled onto this record but It's just solid music. Jeez I always come out with the hard hitting album reviews don't I? I had to google what a Bivouac was.

Cortex - Troupeau bleu
83

After getting into that other Cortex record I decided to give this one a go as well... yeah more funky French jazz-funk it's a vibe.

明日の叙景 [Asunojokei] - アイランド [Island]
87

Pay no attention to the cover, this is some ggrreeaatt blackgaze metal. (If your into that sort of thing which I am.)

HEALTH - RAT WARS
78

why are the rats fighting why can't they get along?

Geese - 3D Country
80

It's got an old sound with new energy. Just some great ass rock man it goes hard.

Mon Laferte - Autopoiética
75

I am not well versed in Latin music so I wouldn't know if this was particularly good or not but it sounds pretty good to me.

Elliott Smith - Either/Or
93

Depression core.

Portishead - Dummy
80

Just listen to Sour Times man. Just listen to Sour Times.

The Evens - The Evens
70

It's some good indie rock actually, nothing overly special though.

Slowdive - Souvlaki
78

Classic shoegaze, so of course it's quite dreamy. The whole album almost blends together, which is a great in this context. Layers upon layers of sound.

U2 - The Joshua Tree
78

Listened to U2 a lot when I was younger because my father put them on a lot. I liked some of the songs but I guess I never bothered to try getting into an album. The Joshua Tree starts off extremely strong with classic tracks but the rest of the album is still fine. Where the Streets Have No Name, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, With Or Without You... those are bangers.

toe - the book about my idle plot on a vague anxiety
78

How can an album with that stupid name, by a band named "toe", with just a picture of a deer as a cover be so good? Nice math rock / midwest emo from this Japanese band.

Tears for Fears - Songs from the Big Chair
81

SHOUT
SHOUT
LET IT ALL OUT
THESE ARE THE THINGS I CAN DO WITHOUT
COME ON
I'M TALKING TO YOU
COME ON

Amyl and the Sniffers - Comfort to Me
80

Needed some more female led punk and this garage punk album from Australia is good!

Sigur Rós - Ágætis byrjun
80

My post rock experience continues with Iceland's Sigur Rós. Classic album in the genre and one that took me a while to get into.

Ethel Cain - Preacher's Daughter
85

Fantastic trans singer songwriter, takes the singer songwriter style in a direction that I highly appreciate. Dreamy, atmospheric, and at times even post-rock and noise. But even with all that it also keeps an Americana style so it's quite the combo and it's very bitter sweet. Give it a listen.

The Comet Is Coming - Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery
78

After loving their 2022 release I finally got into their 2019 project "Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery". Can't say much about it but yeah The Comet is Coming really know hoe to make Nu jazz that is still jazz and not just electronic music. Love it.

DITZ - The Great Regression
80

The debut album from a band I am only just learning about. Even though I love IDLES and DITZ is supporting them on tour, I actually found them by Spotify playing one of their songs a few tracks after I finished listening to Get Fucked by The Chats yesterday. This is such a great debut if you like post-punk and noise rock. Even though I would not put it at the same level as say the first two IDLES records, I still think this project packs a genuine passion and rawness that is lacking in many ... read more
