Like with all things Cowgirl Clue, this album is equally messy as it is full of charm. It's a soup of hyperpop, edm, hip hop, rock, and a bit of country. We actually get clues of cowgirl this time.
Highlights: Trust Fall, Trailblaze, Cursive In Concrete, Running With A Flashlight, Down By The Lake, Wild Fires
While it doesn't surpass Slide for me, this album brings a nice mix of bangers and ethereal jams, I Been Young still being the standout track here. I have some issues with the mixing on a few spots, but even the weaker moments are easy to get lost in.
Highlights: Everything I Want, Justify Your Life, I Been Young, FUML, Ooh Rap I Yah, For You I Will
I'm sure Zach looked fucking sick playing this but I have never been able to listen to this whole thing straight through ๐
Pretty nice. Though, at one point I kind of forgot I was listening to anything
Every new release from this band makes me want to just Silversun Pickup my shit and LEAVE
Tell Me Where To Go was an interesting switch up in style. All nice additions to the Scaring The Hoes Cinematic Universe
My biggest issue with TV Girl has always been the vocals, and there's really no improvement here. So, paired with some flat and bland instrumentals, you get a pretty flat and bland album.
I think Sweeping Promises has a lot of potential. The vocals are great, the band delivers fun, angular punky instrumentals, but I wish they'd break a little more out of their lo-fi sound, which I feel like hurts the songs at times. Otherwise, this album is another solid addition to what the band has been doing already, though there's a tiny hint more of ambition. I wish they'd take it a little further.

I remember being pretty underwhelmed when this album came out, but still liked it a lot. If anything I think its gotten even better over time. This album strips things back a lot in songwriting and instrumentation, but it has a certain hypnotic, sparse vibe that's fairly unique in the bands discography. The production is detailed and intimate and the moments of pure beauty really shine. And honestly, Feral slaps.
While I still love the singles and some of the album cuts like 2122 and Tomorrow's Crusades, ultimately this record isn't all wins. The vocals can get a bit tiresome like on the long winded Undoer. I still appreciate the wide range of rock influences the band employs, Cowboy Nudes and Mysterious Love are definitely two of my favorite songs this year.
Man, every single has been so good. I haven't ever been this excited for album from a band I didn't previously care about
Considering how wonderfully produced ALFAA is, this is a bit of a let down sonically, though I appreciate what the band is doing here
A kind of rare album that somehow just keeps getting better as it goes. A real king of a glizzy.
Highlights: Converge, Witchcraft, Gila Monster, Dragon, Flamethrower
A sum of all of QOTSA's best parts, this is a welcome comeback for the band after "Villians" left me feeling kind of empty. Josh has bite, the production has grit, and the band sounds at the top of their game. It definitely doesn't hit the creative heights "Like Clockwork..." did, but turns out the band didn't need to do that this time around.
Highlights: Obscenery, Paper Machete, Time & Place, Carnavoyeur, What The Peephole Say, Emotion Sickness
Solid Beach Fossils album, a nice listen despite pulling no punches, in comparison to Somersault which atleast stretched a little bit instrumentally.
Highlights: Run To The Moon, Dare Me
I like Squid, I like this album. Squid is a good band.
My problem with Squid, is my favorites songs are still Houseplants, The Cleaner, and Match Bet. Is this a problem with Squid or a problem with me? Who could possibly ever know?
