Super fun record. Banger after banger with thoughtful writing and hardhitting, fantastic instrumentation.
Victor Leksell's debute album is a really solid listen. Nothing extraordinary, but quite relatable lyrics and consistently good performances from both artist and producers. Overall it comes out as a very solid, consistent record.
One of Sweden's most proficient popstars Victor Leksell is back with his sophomore record "Tid & Tro", which offers more of his consistently good performances. Nothing too outstanding instumentation wise, and nothing extraordinary in terms of vocal perfomances, but its a consist, really good album. As much as I like this record, I believe Leksell needs to explore some different styles and perhaps experiment a bit more for his next one. I would not mind Victor getting out of ... read more
This might be her best record to date. Fun, catchy songs with great production. Banger after banger. I also love the productionstyle which is a bit different to her usual stuff. Extremely happy that she chose to do something a bit different as it turned out fantastic. Really looking forward to seing what she does next.
On first listen I liked this record, but it wasn't anything too special. I didn't really feel like it held up to her two previous albums. However, upon revisiting the record multiple times, I have found its really growing on me. After a few listens everything really just clicked for me. Now I love this album and I feel like it might be her best body of work in her career so far. Finneas has done a tremendous job on the production as it sounds absolutely amazing and accompanies ... read more
Great track. Great beat, beautiful strings with crisp percussion and some nice bass. Benny delivers quite a good verse. A short but sweet track.
My Light, My Destroyer sounds amazing. The instrumentation is incredible. However, the constant intermissions combined with Cassandra's lack of vocal inflections and tonal variety is a bit annoying. Cassandra is undoubtedly good at what she does, her vocal performances on the record are very solid. But they are also very samey and lack variety. The constant intermissions between complete songs makes it feel like the album never really gets going, which is quite annoying. Despite the ... read more
This is probably Vampire Weekend's best record to date. Such an incredible album with fantastic instrumentation and beautiful vocal performances. Absolutely love the production on these tracks, the instrumentation sounds phenomenal, I especially found myself loving the piano and percussion throughout the record. Wonderful album.
Sonically, its a repetitive, boring snoozefest.
Lyrically, its a misogynistic man filled up with fragile masculinity who is glorifying violence.
The beats are extremely boring and repetitive. $NOT's flow is terrible on most tracks, sometimes even off beat. The lyrics are repetitive, single minded and idiotic. He portrays himself as a "real man" while glorifying violence, promoting misogyny and denouncing getting professional help. The entire thing screams fragile masculinity ... read more
Definitely a step up from Espresso. A decently catchy and fun song. Good vocals and some nice production.
MDL is quite a big step down from The Off-Season. There are some great tracks on here, but it mostly feels like a collection of throwaways. Some of the biggest pitfalls of the record are "Fever", the random transphobia on "Pi" and of course the Kendrick diss. "Fever" is just straight up awful, the transphobia is random as hell and just stupid and "7 Minute Drill" is directly embarrassing.
Still, this record has some highlights. The first two tracks, ... read more
This just wasn't it. Kanye has gone completely off the rails. While I am an advocate for separating art from the artist, that simply is not possible in this case since Kanye's extreme views and outrageous statements make their way into the music. Even ignoring that, the music sounds terrible. There are a couple of good moments on the album, but they are few and far in between. I think "STARS" is quite a good intro, as it offers some nice production and instumentation with a ... read more
Radical Optimism offers some catchy melodies and nice instumentation, however it isn't all that memorable. Definitely feels like a step down from Future Nostalgia. I think my main issue with this record is that it doesn't seem to have nearly as much personality as her previous one. Where Future Nostalgia was memorable and stood out, Radical Optimism simply doesn't. The collaboration with Kevin Parker raised expectations for me and made me really excited for this project as it ... read more
While the album is quite great throughout, it is a bit too long. The skits and intermissions don't bother me since they add to the album. The covers/takes of classic songs in the genre are tasteful and quite fantastic. I think COWBOY CARTER is a great album from Beyoncé with fantastic vocal performances and strong instrumentation. My biggest complaint is simply that it is a bit too long and a bit all over the place.
Los Angeles is a very strong record with amazing rapping and great beats.
Pop masterclass. Perfect instrumentation, fantastic production, great writing and outstanding performances from Chappell makes for a special pop record. Absolute pop perfection.
Phenomenal instrumentation with fantastic vocals on top of it. In Lieu of Flowers is truly an experience. Dan Campbell's vocal performances are so incredibly emotional and really packs a punch. The instrumentation complements Dan's vocals perfectly and the entire feel of the album is authentic and just overall fantastic.
This is the first record I have heard from Aaron West & The Roaring Twenties, but I will definitely go back through their catalogue.
