This album is a masterful showcase of versatility, great writing and extraordinary singing ability.

Illmatic showcases Nas' extraordinary writing in an environment that transports the listener to 90's New York. Fantastic writing on top of perfectly fitting instrumentation that string together to become a very cohesive and dense project. Every line hits, the beat selection is great and the replay value is incredible. Have not grown tired of this record even after listening consistently for years... Truly a classic of the genre and an incredible moment in music history.
