would give 100000 if i could. raw, honest, unflattering lyricism sung in infectious melody with packed pop production. GIVE HER HER FLOWERS. STOP HATING YOURSELF.
an absolutely harrowing body of work that is politically and philosophically charged. this work being anything but well received on it’s release makes total sense. the world GENUINELY wasnt ready. wasn’t ready for truths such as
“floating, drifting on the air-conditioned wind—and drooling for a taste of something smuggled in”
“winds of change, patriarchs snug in your bible belt dreams” , “it takes a heart like Mary’s these days when your ... read more
this album is incredibly cohesive in quality and production, and is an amazing pop bible with little sprinkles of country-inspired stuff in the mix. its so perfectly engineered and crafted that it feels authentic, which is what every popstar wants in the music age of ramble lyrics and relatability. the adlibs are infinitely addictive and all of the lyrics are amazing. so clever and cheeky all throughout and has a lot of re-playability even among the most popular and played songs. sabrina found ... read more
while twitter (rightfully) picked on gracie for her controversial past comments and bland music, i heard ilyis through the grapevine and was like wait this is kind of good,,, then i heard risk and was gagged and close to youwas pretty good too. so today i tried the whole album! and i will still only be listening to the songs i did before <3 such a bland album
a quick, fleeting, and immersive listening experience that is packed with many textured crunches and ambient wooshes. made completely by stretching out brief samples of synths and then producing them to their max potential, whno successfully made a mixtape who’s primary purpose is to slot between tracks on a “shower playlist”. all the elongated bonus stems were only released to meet label demands, as the short songs did not constitute as a release. yet they all are well ... read more
this album, though very disjointed and VERY hit or miss, had a few truly great songs and some stellar production that i wish she expanded on more. instead, she fell flat with awful single choices, a whole drake suite, and even more odd features and appearances. the album did flow through the trash pretty well and i overall did enjoy the vibes of late-night miami that she was going for. i’m hoping for camillas next album (if it even happens after this commercial flop) she embraces more of ... read more
wow. that was definitely an experience! you know the music is bad when a yung gravy verse is the best part of the song. it’s like dream is begging to not be taken seriously with this awful music…the pen is dull, the production is giving royalty free instrumental, and the vox…everything about it is so cheap. i would have loved this shit at his target audience’s age (9) though so maybe he is a genius and we don’t even know it!
first listen done! on this non-stop mixtape m.i.a served a concept with this virus-esque project perfectly narrated by her and a trusty a.i! it was ambitious and incredibly entertaining with the interludes and transitions, and the production was wild but worked really well. the lyrics, which were often tongue-and-cheek mixed with m.i.a ending everyone, actually were very empowering and politically dense—which is something she explores on other projects, and i love it. while some of the ... read more
i’m sorry yall…but it’s not that bad. the opener was actually pretty good and the experimental intro gagged me a bit. next 2 songs were fine with some catchy melodies but nothing more. the 4th song i liked the least despite it having the highest user ranking…and then..the one and only karma. idk but it’s just so catchy. the adlibs get me. the vocals ate. the autotune in the bridge is so funny like it’s embarrassing she can’t hit those notes but it ... read more
kesha’s funny lyrics had me laughing and her angsty delivery had me in the feels…and regrettably, the production was really good with it’s unique bitpop influence. really great “ep” from kesha that has kind of had like 3 renaissances since it’s release. favs were title track, “the harold song”, “grow a pear”, and the last 2 tracks.
it was very generic but “2 die 4” is one of my guilty pleasure fav songs like i was there when it leaked on tiktok and didn’t have a charli verse yet…and also what’s wrong with being generic! every h&m fitting room needs some muzak and also unironically canadian radio would eat this shit up addison tell ur marketing team… this was cute & fine but diet pepsi was really good so im sat for whatever she does next!
finished my first listen. rarely does an album gag me this much on first listen…wow. the production was insane, the lyrics were unique and amazing, and she just overall gagged. i loved her delivery and her vocals are so impressive, she was hitting every note with ease. the soundscapes on this album were lush and often took their time to build without feeling tedious. the careful use of distortion to swell and explode after more ambient sections was incredible and made for alot of moments ... read more
this was a cute ep that felt like it was holding back something. a few of the songs were a bit more diva experimental and i wish they capitalized and expanded more off the small bit of weirdness present and made it into something more unique. favs were “take yourself home” and “rager teenager”.
vespertine is an album about love. it covers many different facets of it, though primarily sex and yearning for a certain someone… the production on this album is insane. it uses what bjork calls “microbeats” and is so fuzzy and tingly. “cocoon” is a prime example of this with it’s bass-y and intimate loop and out-of-breathe vocal performance from bjork. it’s a discography highlight and a song that is truly special in it’s privacy. “who ... read more
an incredibly commendable pop album. the first half is consistent with it’s more quirky rnb production, and the second half has a handful of standouts adourned with a more synth-pop switchup. this is one of the first albums i was really THERE for, as in waiting on music video drops, following all the accounts, looking up live performances…it was gripping when i was younger and it’s as gripping now even after all these years. ariana sounds strong and vulnerable, and almost ... read more
an overhated album that’s truly great and stands tall with bjork’s other works. even i was a volta hater before i sat down and truly gave myself to the mostly-abrasive and sometimes lush soundscapes of bjork’s sixth studio record. despite being an album bolstered with smoky tribal imagery and fleeting flames, “volta” is a very wet album… one to absorb, like rain…my pretentious ass talk but like! to people who’ve heard this album you know what i ... read more
