While I get that the simplicity is what many people like, it's just not quite enough for me to truly love the album the way others do.
Dummy's soundscape manages to encompass everything I want in an album. The dark soundscape, Beth Gibbons's vocals always manage to be the centrepiece of the album and contribute so much to it's atmosphere. Sure, it could be called a little repetitive but when what's being repeated sounds so good, who cares?
Favorite: Sour Times, Wandering Star, Glory Box
The lack of polish really does make the album a lot better.
A big sonic divergence from his previous, soft spoken, more folk heavy albums. But that is very welcome.
Favorite: Sweet Adeline, Waltz, No. 2 (XO), Baby Britain
Gets way too much hate. Not much by Radiohead standards but as a body of music it's pretty good.
This is the world top 3 of the year.
I don't even know what to say. Speechless at how consistently great these two are.
Forgot to rate these singles oops... Loved these, Magdalena Bay was easily my favorite new group I found this year.
What the hell am I listening to?

Great EP from Jane Remover. Gonna listen to the rest of their discography after this.

Good, nothing to scoff at and nothing to praise.

Very heartfelt singing. Loved some songs and others were not so very good at all.

I liked it overall, though I didn't really find anything exceptional, good or bad.

Such a crazy and unrestricted album.

They can't keep doing this... They can't keep cooking this hard. In all seriousness though, while this is no Black Parade for me, it is still an amazing album. Helena is a masterpiece.

A little rough around the edges here and there. Some of the songs are shorter than on FtF and I do prefer FtF but I say that in no way to discredit this album for the masterpiece it is its own right. I only give it a 90 since FtF exists to smooth out the rough production.
