Had to come back and write a proper review to this. One of my personal favorite trap albums that feels so quintessentially like teenage-me's rap taste wrapped into one perfect album.
One of those albums that will FOREVER be linked to a place and time in my life and is already so deeply nostalgic — Santa Monica, Los Angeles living solo, walking around the area and the pier at sunset, blasting this shit in my airpods feeling like I'm listening to the coolest most avant-garde ... read more
America was the first soft rock with purely American (lol) country roots band I listened to, and I finally came back to their other successful album after about a year. This was a peaceful listen. Just as expected — 70s folksy, campfire on a fresh evening vibes. Listened to this on a rainy Monday, and it was pretty accurate to the mood as well, "Rainy Day" being one of the tracks.
The vibe they give off will always have a special, nostalgic place in my heart.
Came back and listened to this, as it was one of the first albums I got into on my expanding music listening journey. It's even better than I remember. The mix of flavors between indie and folk and electronic is exquisite. So weird listening to some songs I listened to only about a year ago and feel nostalgic about them. Great album with soft esoteric vibes. A great introduction to indie pop as well as indietronica, now that I look back. (still 83 imo)
Had to come back to this. I just randomly thought of this album. Candy was one of the first songs I listened to on my expanding music taste journey. Discovered it through Hivemind's Top 10 songs of 2024, which was the catalyst to this journey. This album, and the very unique sound it has, is already giving me nostalgia for a time in which music like this was so fresh to me, it was like discovering a new 6th sense.
Obviously since then my music tastes and appreciation for these types of ... read more
One of those albums that feel like they're rated too low, but it's just cuz it's too watered down. For the most part this is a great trap metal rage album. Can't get enough of this type of music blasting in my ears. F1LTHY's producer tag will make any trap rage fan activate like a russian sleeper agent and go feral.
This did take me way to long to finish cuz the second half was rough.
Feels almost impossible to catch up to the immensity of lore of this band. Almost no point in giving my opinion on something that everybody just acknowledges is intrinsiquly art in its purest form.
Don't get me wrong it's obviously good music, you're either lying or braindead if you think otherwise, but for me listening to music this retro and specific in feeling and era isn't as easy as just putting it on whenever... I need to be in a late 60s pop rock mood and mindset ... read more
Finally got around to listening to this. As a Gen Z, I've heard Millenials cite this album as an important part of their rap journey. Didn't expect it to be so gospel forward. The vibes are nice tho! I get how this could have been a jam in 2016. It is so so so so 2016 it's fucking insane. It's got a bit of that nostalgic 10s rap sound for me, so I can't imagine how much of a trip down memory lane Chance will be for Millenial rap fans when they're 80 lol.
Reviewing the deluxe as if I were reviewing both at once.
This mfer is a prodigy — younger than my little brother (shoutout for the rec) and he's making beats so fresh that even the greatest can't compare wtf. The fact that not a single song is a miss is impressive af. That's setting such a high bar, but something tells me this is pure talent and he's just gonna keep exceeding this.
It's right down my alley (at least rn) — rage and digicore?? Gimme 14 of ... read more
What's funny is that when you see a trap album with such a low score, you expect someone literally shitting into the mic... but no, it's just some basic, bland, mediocre trap that you've heard a bagillion variations of so often. It's weird like that. Trap/rap fans are just so used to this slop.
So that said it isn't gouge-your-eyes-out horrible, just nothing of substance. All I added was track 2,4,5 and 10 cuz I get down on my knees for future. The rest is exactly ... read more
Idk man. I've never really listened to ASAP.
Ever since I got into rap as a teen, I always found his more "smart rap" lyrical and stylistic flow to be less my cup of tea. It's just not something I gravitate towards cuz I'm way more melody oriented. I guess it hasn't changed much cuz for most of these tracks (deluxe included) I'm trying so hard to get into it but it's just too lyrical for my non lyrical brain to appreciate sitting through.
When I was a ... read more
Coming back to one of the first albums I listened to outside of my comfort zone. I kinda rated it blindly, pretty high for what my musical taste was at the time lol, I might have been a little too hard.
On relisten, after a couple hundred albums listened in various styles, this exceeded my previous experience, obviously. Such a deeply passionate and intimate album. The mix of genres is still something that's very foreign to me, but I love it more than before.
Also, I don't have a ... read more
This is the longest "review" I've ever written and for good reason lol.
I started this back in August of 2025 and it got ADHD procrastinated to hell for being too time consuming, but I knew I had to come back to it. A bunch has happened since then lol I've been listening to actual music for almost a year now! I ended up going to see magbay in concert (was one of the best days of my life, I feel so incredibly grateful to have been able to witness the Imaginal Disk Tour and ... read more
I just... I can't right now. At a loss for words.
user/thenevermeant/ said it fucking perfectly. We're witnessing history in the fucking making.
I swear on everyone I love when I say every time I listen to Second Sleep I can't help but cry tears of joy. I am utterly offended that there aren't more people acknowledging that this incredible couple is just casually releasing the best music of the 21st century.
I know I'm biased, I know I've only started listening to music seriously about 10 months ago — Imaginal Disk being one of the first albums outside of my comfort zone — but still... Matt and Mica ... read more
Although I've had Thundercat on my radar since I started getting into music, I've only got to listening to a full album now — since it's new I'm prioritizing it over the thousands of fucking albums I wanna listen to.
This was great, definitely a lot of tracks I'm gonna be savouring this summer. Exactly the groovy, worbley, psychedelic black classical music I expected. Perfect collection of late night, looking-at-the-stars-while-high songs. Although definitely ... read more
woah didn't expect this. nice lil double track of industrial rap n' alt rock. something you'd hear in the soundtrack of a grungy female lead movie.
Really, really good r&b pop soul. I had seen RAYE on the homepage for a while, but what really pushed me to listen to this was the creative cover art and the fact that she'll be playing at a festival near me soon.
Incredible discovery. I keep finding more more and incongruous mixes of genres I'd never thought possible: pop soul, r&b, jazz, classical and even fucking cinematic classical with a goddamn Hans Zimmer feature, insane.
This album is beautifully creative, fresh, ... read more
took me so so long to get to this. finally listened to the entire album. pretty much exactly what I expected, nothing that crazy, but still great queer synthpop with some fun dance-pop country elements. Pink Pony Club made it to the goddamn moon which is crazy. dunno bout all this industry plant, nepo baby stuff, she seems chill af
Saw this in a classmate's IG story, excellent taste. Might be one of my first shoegaze albums but this shit's tight. Definitely need to be in the right mood for this, but when I am, the soundscape is just magnificent.
Saw someone say shoegaze is a genre that just transports you into the music — couldn't be more correct. Depressing, misty, gloomy, dreamy goodness. Beach House if they were suicidal and emo.
Beautiful cover as well, holy artistic perfection.
