Balu Brigada - Portal
86

GOD I LOVE THOSE BOUNCY, GROOVY ELECTRIC GUITAR BASS-LINES.
Discovered this band thanks to the fact that they'll be playing at paléo festival.

This album seemed right up my alley and I was 100 percent correct. The commenters are justified in saying that this deserves the praise — some of the best songs I've listened to in a while. Pure psych indie rock heaven, holy shit. The album has all the hitters in front and continues with some above average chill hits. All in ... read more

Clairo - Immunity
90

This album holds (and will hold) a very, very special place in my heart as one of the first albums I ever listened to upon my openness to explore all genres, getting over stupid biases. (Relistening to this is so fucking nostalgic even though I only just listened to this back in june of 2025)

Not only a perfect album on it's own, but this was also the perfect album to introduce me to indie, as someone who almost only listened to rap. This album just has this deep beauty that initiated me ... read more

Bill Withers - Just As I Am
82

Ain't No Sunshine and Grandma's Hands were most likely some of the first genuine classic soul tunes I listened to by myself, at around 14 years old. And I've loved the deeply human and radiating joy Bill Withers gave me ever since.

This album is exactly what you expect before going in: pure country, african-american folk/soul goodness that feels exactly how folk and soul were meant to feel like.

Dreamville - D-Day: A Gangsta Grillz Mixtape
70

The epitome of a 7/10 rap album. I never got around to listening to this when I discovered Dreamville and JID. This has a few pretty good songs, and a bunch more mid songs. Nothing crazy, but I've gotten the sorting process out of the way, and the tracks that are left are worth a good 78/100.

Ino Casablanca - TAMARA
74

... read more

Big Thief - Masterpiece
82

Quaint lil' indie rock album. My second Big Thief album, that I'm going through in non-chronological order.
Sorry, I'm sure I'm missing a FUCKTON of the greatness of this album since I don't have the capacity to pay attention to lyrics. But despite that, this album still has that homey, cozy, americana, by-the-fire at dusk vibe that I've grown very accustomed to, and will continue to love. Sorry again lol.

Pi'erre Bourne - The Life of Pi'erre 5
85

This era is so goddamn nostalgic for me. I discovered HULU when I was just getting into rap and listening to music on my own, and I thought it was the coolest shit on the fucking planet. That song was like cocaine to me when I was 18. I had listened to the first couple songs back then, but I wasn't listening to albums in full like that.

Finally got around to it. It's really solid. A good amount of songs are literally perfect late night stoner trap.

Undeniable hits that just ooze ... read more

Cousin Stizz - MONDA
60

Don't even know why I tried to force myself to listen to this all the way through. Basic ass 2010s trap.

Dominic Fike - Don't Forget About Me, Demos
77

Solid indie record! Nothing to complain about. Dominic Fike is definitely 14 year-old-girl-fan-coded, or tiktok music if you will, but sometimes it's nice to listen to some of that simplistic indie! Fun little summer-y vibes.

55ASKY - Volim te
74

Ptite écoute rapide! Une amie m'a recommandé Bekamine ! Le reste de l'album suit la même veine d'hyper-pop française brute, aux basses boostées, avec des influences reggaeton et trap.

Panchiko - D>E>A>T>H>M>E>T>A>L
75

Kinda cool, very gritty, glitchy, avant-garde yet very 90s reminiscent, multi-genre ethereal indie rock.

Had fun listening to this but I have to say the "ROT" remixes really don't need to exist. It is unlistenable, ear-rape, glitch bile vomit that only the most psychopathic, suicidal, emo fuck would listen to. So yeah mixed feelings.

Underworld - dubnobasswithmyheadman
77

It's nice! Exactly what I expected as a casual fan of techno and house. Immersive, hypnotic, UK rave/club energy. Definitely not something I'd listen to on a commute or on my personal day-to-day basis, but there are some solid tracks here. I can almost picture myself in 1990s London while listening to this.

Concrete Boys - It's Us Vol. 2
66

This took me a while to get back to. Average ass detroit trap album. I haven't listened to the first volume, apparently it's better. There are still some hitters on this, but the ratio is pretty bad. The laid-back, late night tracks that Yachty excels on are the greatest, but even a few of the hard detroit trap style beats are decent.

Overall nothing crazy, but a worthwhile trap listen in the big 2026, seeing as though most albums become something you have to sift through to find ... read more

파란노을 [Parannoul] - To See the Next Part of the Dream
86

Was recommended this by bro (@Bisuits), as it was his favorite and most listened to album this winter, and I finally got around to it. As expected, bro has excellent taste. Never thought I’d find myself listening to Korean shoegaze, but damn, this is good.

Someone else described it perfectly: when you listen to this album, you kind of stop thinking. It just fills your head with this gloomy, haunted, emo, movie-soundtrack atmosphere. It sounds like the inside of a ’90s emo ... read more

Young Nudy - Peaches & Eggplants
100

No joke one of the best, most addictive trap songs of the late 21st century.

LAUSSE THE CAT - The Mocking Stars
81

A friend recommended “The Midnight Hour” off this album, which was great—but the rest of the project was a total trip. Chill UK jazz-rap vibes with sporadic Gen Z-style sound effects thrown in, and on top of that, this strange but intriguing cat-themed persona (I’m clearly new to this whole thing).

Lausse the Cat, as the name suggests, really leans into the character, and there’s even a bit of a children’s-play or storybook element woven into it. All in all, ... read more

Gang Starr - Moment of Truth
84

Great 90s boom bap, I love deepening my knowledge and passion for hip-hop. This was a smooth, easy listen — very chill, classic east coast stuff. This was also my first Gang Starr record.

Although I liked it a lot (there's almost nothing to hate in this) this album doesn't wow me as much as other 90s rap albums have. Maybe it's the slower-paced, intelligent boom bap flow. I'm not saying I don't like it, I'm not even saying it's mid, but there are ... read more

Spillage Village - Spilligion
71

Put off this album for the longest time—sometimes collaborative projects don't tempt me as much for some reason. But as a huge JID fan I had to check it out.

Besides the middle, which is a little sub par, these tracks are decent! Nothing to write home about, but a very cool laid-back, warm, style with a very unexpected gospel influence. Admittedly, I'm not really into the christian rhetoric, but the Black gospel elements bring a really welcoming, joyful energy and a strong ... read more

The Doobie Brothers - Minute by Minute
83

Solid lil' 70s yacht rock album — groovy, chill ass, summer hippy vibes. What more could you ask for?
Heard of the Doobie Brothers through Hivemind if I'm not mistaken, and as always did not disappoint — one of the best musical eras since the beginning of music is american 70s soft rock. There's a reason Fleetwood Mac's Rumours is considered one of the GOATs.

The Cardigans - Gran Turismo
87

Had heard of the Cardigans a couple times before, but what really made me wanna get into one of their projects was from hearing the mind-blowingly addictive chorus on My Favorite Game in a tiktok, it really is a great way to stumble upon deeper cuts.

Didn't expect much from this album since it was rated a 77, but let me preface this by saying the normies definitely review bombed this, because this project is incredible from front to back. (skip the last track tho lol)

The guitar riffs ... read more
