Ohio Motel - The Treasure Is All Yours
77

Had this one in the spin list for a while... Remember this being recommended by Hivemind, friends of the show— described as slow, chill, melancholy vibes — and I was looking for something like that, and this hit the spot. Great mood for a rainy depression day.

Quadeca - Vanisher, Horizon Scraper
86

Previously rated this a 75 back at the very start of my music-listening journey, on July 29th, 2025… needless to say, I was tweaking rating this anything below an 80.

Quadeca is easily one of the biggest underdogs when it comes to career transitions. I was late to his music and never really felt drawn to it at first, despite constantly seeing him on the best music show on the internet, Hivemind. I really admire the trajectory he’s taken, he’s clearly incredibly talented and ... read more

Labi Siffre - Crying, Laughing, Loving, Lying
94

I had heard of Labi Siffre multiple times, but what really solidifed my need to listen to this was hearing Crying Laughing Loving Lying in one of my newly favorite movies, The Holdovers.

I have a desperate love for this album. It just exudes warmth, humanity and love. So soulful, so beautiful, so intimate, so soothing and calming, a masterpiece that was way before it's time. I fucking love folk. Almost bringing me to tears. This is music.

Bernard Purdie - Soul Drums
83

Scrumptious Soul Jazz.

Clairo - diary 001
68

Nothing crazy. Even a lil sub-par for Clairo standards, I'd chock that up to her still being early on in her career and still trying to figure out her sound. 4EVER is an outlier though, I've been listening to that single on repeat, so good.

Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT
84

I put this off for the longest time, even though it was one of the first albums I added to my must-listen list. Finally got around to it—and yeah, the talent is undeniable.

For some reason it doesn’t hit quite as hard for me as some of her alt-pop peers, maybe because of the subconscious bias that comes with her level of fame, and her somewhat "cringe" past hits still lingering in my mind. But now that I'm past that, there's no denying that she’s cool as ... read more

高中正義 [Masayoshi Takanaka] - SEYCHELLES
83

Very random listen! Super funky and laid-back vibes, would have never predicted that this came out in 76, that's insane. Glad I stumbled upon this summer-y lil album!

Childish Gambino - Summer Pack
75

Decent summer vibes. Don't think Gambino is my cup of tea though, never was.

Thievery Corporation - Saudade
76

This was recommended to me by a friend who's more into downtempo and laid-back stuff than I am, and who even bought the vinyl of this record.

I liked it quite a bit! Nothing bad to say about it honestly, some chill, sophisticated trip hop/downtempo with some acid jazz elements if I'm not mistaken! Also includes various languages which is great — reminds me of Manu Chao in that way.

Lil Yachty - Sorry Not Sorry
87

Ngl might be some of the hardest trap I've heard, and I'm late af. Just discovered Veeze.

Veeze - L.O.A.T
93

Lethal Detroit trap. Goddamn!

CunninLynguists - Will Rap For Food
85

Lynguistics has been a song in my rotation through a friend for a few years now and I finally listened to the entire album after stumbling back upon it. Great aughts boom bap, this has such a fun vibe. Ending the songs with recordings is just great classic hip-hop. Apparently a group from Lexington, Kentucky of all places! Their style is unique for sure. Happy I finally got to listen to this gem.

Wednesday - Bleeds
83

Had this one on the back burner for a while and finally got around to it! Didn't know what to expect from this but I was really pleasantly surprised, this was weird and fun and a great intro to the noise rock sound I'm not so familiar with quite yet. Glad this style and mix of genres has been getting so much recognition as of the 20s.

Magdalena Bay - Mercurial World
85

As a huge fan of their latest project, Imaginal Disk—which I discovered in the summer of 2025, right at the beginning of my music journey, and which has since become my favorite album of all time—I struggled to find the right moment to dive into their earlier work, with all the expectation and hype I’d built up in my head.

Naturally, this wasn’t as mind-blowing as Imaginal Disk, but that was completely expected—Imaginal Disk is a lightning-in-a-bottle masterpiece ... read more

Just about decent. Which is suprising for this type of genre. I moderately like this type of 2020s jerk, but the type of person that I imagine only listens to this type of music kinda disgusts me, probably has garbage music taste, and I kinda don't wanna be associated with them.

mercury - Together We Are One, You And I
89

wow. quality indie rock. Really really good, surprised that not many people know about this artist. Shout Grant from Hivemind, superb taste as always.

Quavo - Tough
83

Such an unexpected pairing of genres and artists, it works suprisingly well.

A$AP Rocky - Don't Be Dumb
76

Never been an A$AP fan, so I didn't have otherworldly, unreasonable expectations for this album. This was interesting and something that made me more interested in A$AP in general. Some hard ass trap hitters, some duds, and some more experimental stuff that just isn't my style — having a spoken word interlude type thing baked into a song is stupid and annoying for repeat listens imo. That said, feels very fresh, 2020s rap vibe. So overall, this probably does deserve its current ... read more

J. Cole - KOD
66

Never been a J. Cole fan, never ever understood how he's a in the GOAT rapper conversation. This is my first J. Cole album I listen to fully, apart from casually listening to The Off-Season back in the day. A few decent songs, but otherwise not my kinda rap.

Oscar Peterson - Oscar Peterson Plays the George Gershwin Song Book
82

Nothing bad to say about this, although how can you? It's just good jazz.
