Nick Drake - Bryter Layter

Beautiful, Serene, Homey—loved it. I’ve been getting more and more into folk lately, and this project really solidifies that.

Clairo - Sling
81

Really good of course. The chillest, calmest of Clairo's discography and it is a vibe, but I do prefer her other projects. That said every single song is solid af. I just think I didn't expect a softer folk album going into this.

Jessie Ware - What's Your Pleasure?
87

Great disco, groovy dance-pop vibes. Feels like a soundtrack to a really classy dance romance movie from an alternate reality of the 70s.

Amanaz - Africa
73

Some good tracks! Otherwise the rest aren't my kind of sound at all — it sounds so jarring.

George Benson - Give Me The Night
85

Really solid groovy jazz. chill af... sorry this one not as creative, but I really do like it. Just don't have the words

Fiona Apple - Tidal
74

Not quite my style, I think, but it does feel like something a lot of people would gravitate toward. Despite how intricate the instrumental is, her voice is what stood out the most to me—really nice distinct vocals. I'm not mad at it, just don't think I'll come back to it immediately.

Angèle - Brol
70

I’d probably only listen to this if it came up in my playlist rotation, but there are a few nice tracks. Living in French-speaking Switzerland, this felt like a must-listen. I know this era is iconic for Angèle and for French pop in general, but since I wasn’t really on that wave at the time, it feels more familiar than nostalgic—having heard some of these songs in passing through friends. Still, it does carry that very recognizable 2010s pop sound, which as a 2003 baby ... read more

Duran Duran - Rio

Great record—one of my dad’s all-time favorites. The 80s synth-pop/new wave vibe is unmatched, easily some of the grooviest, most unmistakably 80s pop ever made. It’s pure movie-soundtrack perfection, picture a broody, slick-black-haired protagonist in sunglasses and a leather jacket, walking alone down a pier at night, Walkman in hand, this blasting in his ears.

The Allman Brothers Band - Idlewild South
83

Been meaning to check out the Allman Brothers Band, I've seen and heard about 'em often. It's great. Don't have much to go off of cuz I am not an expert in 70s Southern Rock at all, but I love it. My kind of rock. Rootsy n' groovy, great head bobbin' music.

VACATIONS - Changes
86

I really like this shit. Yeah, it’s very basic, samey jangle pop, but it just feels so nostalgic and dreamy. I was never into this kind of semi-melancholic indie because it always reminded me of cringe TikTok hopecore/nostalgicore videos—and don’t get me wrong, it still totally does lol.

I’m just at a point where Idgaf about the vibe this kind of music gives off anymore—the whole “2010s beach music video" aesthetic.

But ya know what? As long as it ... read more

Westside Gunn - Supreme Blientele

I don’t really get the hype—there are maybe six actual songs here, and the rest feels like filler, with people just talking about their day over (I'll be it) slow but delicious, sultry beats. They’re not bad, but they’re also not tracks I’d really feel like adding to my rotation. Overall, underwhelming, though I’ll admit that this kind of abstract subgenre really isn’t my cup of tea.

Mitski - The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We
83

This would have never been on my radar or my cup of tea a couple years ago, but I'm quickly getting around to the rich deep sound of Mitski — so full of heart and emotion, obviously not for every occasion, but when it's the right time it hits so good.

Even a couple months has changed my point of view on the indie folk sound, I should revisit Mitski's other projects again with this updated persepective.

beabadoobee - This Is How Tomorrow Moves
82

Relistened to this in mid december 2025, this is solid indie but I was too nice to this project the first time around. The first handful of songs are really catchy and fun, then it gets into a sound I'm a little less into, still good music, just less my speed.

Blood Orange - Negro Swan
83

A solid alt-R&B record with sultry, smooth tracks, plenty of synthy and funky highlights, and these incredibly raw vocals that give the whole thing an energy that feels both powerful and a little sexy at times. Wow, words of a poet, right?!

Weyes Blood - And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow
90

Magnificent, silky smooth, ethereal, peaceful, serene, and an absolute artistic masterpiece of an album.

This is one of my go to albums to listen to to take a nap on my commute home — I'm able to just forget about everything and enter the wonderfully dreamy and perfectly executed world of Miss Mering.

Lil Uzi Vert - Luv Is Rage 2
75

Coming back to this and finally listening all the way through after years of only knowing the hits. I really thought it would be banger after banger based on the hype in the reviewa. But starting with For Real, I just wasn’t feeling it… It’s not bad, it’s just the most basic cloud rap you can imagine, that I just don't feel like adding to my playlist cuz I know I'll skip it every time.

That said, the hitters here are genuinely generational—straight ... read more

Magdalena Bay - Unoriginal / Black-Eyed Susan Climb

A tiny bit less my speed, but still oozing with creativity and incredible sounding synthy psych indie pop rock.

Magdalena Bay - Human Happens / Paint Me a Picture
95

I mean—WHAT. THE ACTUAL. FUCK. They physically cannot make bad music. They can’t even make mediocre music. Matt and Mica really do look like that really cute, shy high school sweethearts couple that compliment their weird perfectly, then start a psych band together, and over a few years, develop some of THE BEST psych-pop of the 21st century.

Magdalena Bay - Second Sleep / Star Eyes
100

HOW IS MAGDALENA BAY NOT RECOGNIZED AS THE MOST ICONIC AND DOWNRIGHT BEST POP BAND OF THE 21ST CENTURY?

Mica and Matt have GENERATIONAL TALENT.

Air - Moon Safari
83

Groovy, chill, dreamy and jazzy lounge vibes. Perfect background music to make life seem like a quaint lil french movie, maybe on a tiny bit of shrooms. I do have a slight aversion to the french daft punk-esque voice effect and sound, but it didn't bother me too much.
