I was going over the credits when a name really took me by surprise. It's just weird to think that this album and Miami Vice (and, therefore, Vice City) have a direct correlation.
This is my first time listening to a Chat Pile album. I really liked it. The song structures reminded me a lot of early Swans, Big Black, and Godflesh. Good stuff.
A wonderfully complex album. The instrumentation is something akin to a mixture between Frank Zappa, Steely Dan, The Mahavishnu Orchestra, and Hella. The lyrics wouldn't sound out of place next to works by Allen Ginsberg or William S. Burroughs. Loving this new sound.
It's a very pleasant album, but I couldn't help but feel that the tracks were arranged in the same order multiple times: modular synth, saxophone, synth, rest of the band, and strings if available.
Sounds like a blend of Congratulations-era MGMT, Carly Rae Jepsen, Jessie Ware, Giorgio Moroder, and Oneohtrix Point Never.
It's a stunning album.
